It's okay. I do this when I download games, if you don't mind the noise (if it's loud) and/or the PC's light.

What?

Yeah I leave mine on all the time. Reset it maybe once a week.

I run mine 24/7 as it currently has the HDDs in it for my whole house video streaming gear.

I disconnected all of the power/activity lights so I wasn't distracted at night. Our study area is in our bedroom.

Because of amazing technology and how much downclocking to increase longevity, temps and noise you are 100% fine if it is always only downloading.

Just don't leave games open overnight and you're fine.

Right, now CPU has feature like C-State which will downclock its clock when it's idling to save more power.

i'm gonna get into this a little deeper than most people do:

1st: power: leaving your pc on will let it remain using power, the amount is depended on how loaded the components are, less load => less power.

2nd: heat: DONT! do this with laptops. especially ones that have bad cooling (HP anyone?)

3rd: windows generally doesnt like being ran for extended amounts of time (desktop versions that is) i'd suggets rebooting weekly.

4th: turn off your screen(s), they're wasting power and lifetime if left on, even for a toiletbreak. make it a habit to turn off your screens when you move away from the computer. (this counts for the TV just as much)

5th: reliability: components have an estimated time they'll last, having your computer on 24/7 will make you reach that moment faster, with the advantage of not having power cycles (for example HDD spinup cycles) its a balance between both what's best, or if you care at all. (most components will have *other* issues before reaching the point they die of old age, for ex. spinup cycles in a HDD make it go bad faster than having it spin 24/7 for most people)

6th: sound: if the computer is in your bedroom, and its loud, you're going to have a bad time trying to sleep, unless you're deaf, then you're fine.

7th: security: the destructive little brother will have quicker access to the format c: button when your pc is on, than when its off.

in short: no, its not an issue leaving it on if you dont mind the little downsides, and it even has some advantages.

if you're worried with a €40 power bill at the end of the month, turn it off, else, it REALLY doesnt matter. (€40 is what one of my computers will use at max load, after a month, and power isnt that cheap here)

It's totally fine. The only problem is noise if your PC is run with many loud fans

You can but should is a different thing.

Using your parts at 100% all the time deteriorates parts faster.

Parts are only designed to be uses for so many hours at full usage.

Overnight ≈ 8 hours. Most computers are made to handle many more hours than that at a time. There aren't many differences from a home pc and a server hardware wise.

My computer has been left on overnight for years. the white noise of my case fans sound like soft rain on the roof, and puts me out instantly.

I've heard of people running their PCs for like 2 years running, so yeah, it's safe overnight.

Yes it's fine, unless you have one of those damn green drives that park the heads when nothing is being written of read to and from the drive,

those drives love to shorten the life of hard drives when they are idle.

The stars died for you to be here today.

A locked bathroom in the right place can make all the difference in the world.
