Gtx 760 mars or gtx 960

random_australian

Hey guys just trying to work out which guys to get for a new build I can pick up the Asus ROG MARS 760 for 399 or the 960 for 319. The plan is to pair it with an fx 6300 so which way would you go?

what is the main budget of this build?

are you able to get the i3 Core + H97 board and the GTX960?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Around 1300 to 1400 Australian

And yes an i3 and mobile is about the same in price as the fx 6300 and more but surely the fx performs better

nope the Intel i3 will be the stronger CPU

the FX6300 has 6 weak cores compared to the i3

and it darn outdated and it no longer supported

if you are playing a lot of MMO games the Intel is the suggested CPU to use

I've never played an mmo before and I don't really plan to but the real question to begin with was which gpu you would buy?

if you pick the 960 4GB version

your only limit is games not supporting SLi

otherwise

the deal breaker of the MARS is the 2GB VRAM for each GPUs

2GB is not enough for games like SoM and Skyrim modded

Is the 128 bit memory bus enough to take advantage of the 4GB?

i dont really know how nvidia memory allocation works

but it should be able to access at least up to 3.5GB of the VRAM before the GPU run out of juice
