Fresh Reinstall of Windows, won't boot past startup animation, GTX 770 Driver

Issue: After installing NVIDIA drivers for the GTX 770 and rebooting, windows start animation appears, then black screen. Windows definitely finished booting, because [windows] [tab] [tab]

[up] [enter] restarts the computer. I can boot into safe mode to roll the driver back to the generic one, but as soon as I re-install the driver, the same issue occurs.

I checked the BIOS to make sure that legacy mode/Plug and play OS set correctly, but it wasn't an option.

I'm using 1 of the two DVI outputs. I tried switching to no avail. There is a DisplayPort and an HDMI output, but my monitor doesn't support it.

System Specs: AMD FX 8350, 12 GB RAM, 90 GB SSD, 1 TB HDD, no integrated gfx, Windows 7 Ult x64, EVGA Geforce GTX 770, ASUS m5a97, 800 watt PSU.

try installing a different driver version

@GallantChaos Do you have the latest motherboard BIOS installed? If not install it and do another boot and see if the problem is fixed.

 

Could be a GPU problem as well, try the 770 in another PC if you can.
