How do you install Windows? Help!

This is my first time building a PC. I know how to build one. I just have no clue how to install Windows 8.1. I am planning on using a flash drive, but i don't know how to use the BIOS. If anyone is willing to help me out I would appreciate it!!

Just change the boot priority. Make the computer try to start up Windows from the flash drive, and it will load up the Windows installation ISO that you "burned" on there. Just make sure you follow the proper steps for burning a Windows installation disk on a flash drive. Feel free to look around the BIOS, even if you don't know where to look yet! Best plan of action is to become familiar with it as quickly as possible.

Just so you know though, you won't have to dig too far to find where you change the boot priority.

i had exactly the same problem,

do you have the .iso for windows?

yes:

http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/<-- use that program to burn your iso onto your flash drive (it has to be 4 gb or higher and it cant be an external hdd, i already tried)

no:

obtain the iso and read the post again

do this after you've installed windows on that flash drive

then plug the usb into your computer that you want to install windows on and only plug in the drive that you want to install windows on (so you dont accidentally delete all your stuff on your harddrive if you have a hdd/ssd combo)

boot up the pc, you will see a mobo screen and you need to press the key that it says on the screen to go the boot menu, there select your usb drive, and reboot, press nothing this time but just wait, you will now see the windows installer :)

Ok, so after you boot up to windows, you select custom install, right? I saw a youtube video of a person saying to do a custom install, and after you click that, it shows all your Hard Drives/SSD's, and he deleted a "partition". Do i have to do that as well?

More than likely, you will not need to do anything like that. In a situation where you have two partitions, it means you decided to take one piece of a hard drive or SSD and split it into two or more. If you've never done this, than you should have no extra partitions that need to be deleted.

yes, but you shouldn't have the harddrive plugged in if you are installing windows on an ssd :) it would suck to install windows again and maybe you have files on that harddrive that you dont wanna lose so sdd in harddrive out

You will probably don't need to. Just make sure to take out the usb after the installation, because it will try to boot from it again.
