Graphics Card Question.

Ravescream

Sorry about the Title. It may prove to be a little misleading.

So, by the end of the School year, (around the middle/end of May) I am planning to buy and build the gaming computer I have always dreamed of having. I have always been playing on laptops since I can remember so this is going to be a big step for me. On my current PC Part Picker part list, I have the MSI GeForce GTX 970, a card I have read good things about. However with the new AMD R9 390x getting released this April, what is the usual price drop in Nvidia Cards when a new AMD GPU line is released? If the price drop is great enough, I might save a little longer and purchase the GTX 980 instead, but I am a bit interested in what has happened in the past.

It really depends on the price/performance of the new AMD card. If it is close or worse than the Nvidia then it won't change, but if it is better than it will change to try and match the AMD card.

Rest in Pepperoni

I doubt that the Green side will drop prices, AMD is usually the ones who drop prices when the Green side comes out with new cards. If the prices doesn't drop enough, I would still go with the 390x cause I heard it's going be alittle above the 980? Again, that's just rumors.

The time you enjoy wasting, is not wasted time.

Actually, Nevermind I don't remember where I saw/heard when it was supposed to be released, but I don't believe April is right

I doubt the 3xx series will be near the same price of the 970, but if you have enough money and patience, I would wait to see what AMD rolls out.
