be careful with freesync as it stands as some monitors only have like a 20fps window where it works. above or below the threshold and you'll get tearing.

I'm going to buck the trend here.. I don't think as of the moment g sync or free sync are worth the investment. I have a g sync monitor and yes it works.. but no its not a deal breaker. I've never considered tearing a massive problem and more often than not I don't notice it.

I've recently been playing bf hardline with g sync turned off as an experiment and im seeing next to no tearing unless I really look for it.

I'm going amd for my next gpu anywho so I'll be losing it. I've loved without it 21 years of gaming and its never put me off!!

Especially with the price premium.... Freesync interest me initially

But now it's starting to look like poop.....

The fps window is determined by the lower bound which isn't the same for every model of Freesync monitor.

Its not really worth the premium over a regular 144Hz monitor as tearing is barely noticeable at that refresh rate.

Freesync is still in its infancy and will probably have issues ironed out as time goes by.

Hmmm then which 144hz monitor would you recommend? My budget would be preferbally below 600 SGD ... I can stretch to 700 if i must!

The Asus VG248QE seems to be the only available option in SG (wow such availability)

24" TN 1ms 144Hz

Its S$479 at PCT

The only way such an expenditure can be justified, is if you are seriously into CSGO competitive play.

For me at least.

That is pretty darn expensive... lol.....

I wanna get a 2nd monitor but im torn D:

Any suggestions onwhat to do?

For other people...Do you get judder if you cannot provide the 144hz panel with 144fps?

IE: Getting 90-100fps average on a 144hz panel, issues?

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Depends on why you want another monitor, and what you plan to do with it.

I generally want a 2nd monitor so i can multitask better

Especially when my school work requires me to open quite alot of windows

And i wanna experience 144hz or even 4k if i can

If you want 144Hz, there's the VG248QE

As for higher resolution monitors 1440p and 4K/UHD, the prices and availability are just appalling in SG.

If you want those, import from the US. Even after shipping and taxes, they might still be cheaper than the ones available locally.

What would you do in my shoes?

If I really needed the extra working space, I'd just get a 60hz 24" IPS monitor. Then the old Samsung would be the secondary monitor.

The S22D300 is 21.5" and appears to be TN. Going from TN to IPS is like day and night.

Sure, everyone wants a fancy 4K monitor, supercar and private jet. But you have to weight the cost and benefits. Spend within your means.

Any good model that is cheapest (24inch IPS)?

In my knowledge IPS = better colors right? Have you experience IPS panels before?

Are they like flipping expensive in SG too? :o

Yes I've been using a Dell U2412HM for about 3 years. It replaced an old 900p LG Flatron TN. With both monitors side by side, the old LG looked like it had pee stained over it. Massive improvement in image quality.

They are much more reasonably priced.

The cheapest option in this size range is the Dell S2340L, which is 23" and is $229 at PCT

For $20 more you can get the 24" version.

The other brands don't look as competitive for the price/feature (in SG)

But that response time is wayyy too high D:

Anything that is 5ms or lower? Or does it make a difference :o

The way response time is measured is not the same for every manufacturer. There is no mandated industry standard for the way it is measured.

My U2412HM is shown as 8ms but it plays everything totally fine.

Look for reviews rather than just paper stats.

Hmmmm looks nice... Any other recommendations?

S2440L if you want the slightly bigger 24" version

U2414H if you're willing to pay a premium for a much sexier bezel design with the signature Ultrasharp fully adjustable stand. At $359 that's quite a lot more $ just for looks and ergonomics.

But I paid a similar amount for my older, less sexier U2312HM. I could fap off the the new design though. Dell sure knows how to make good monitors.

The s2440L looks good!

But the 23 inch version is 70SGD cheaper LOL

DELL 23” S2340L IPS LED (3 Yrs)......235

DELL 24” S2440L IPS LED (3 Yrs)......309

^(from fuwell)

Is the 1 inch worth 70 SGD? :o

I said PCT you idiot.

S2340L = $229

S2440L = $249

You just saved $6-60

It pays to be a smart shopper ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

OHHHHHHHHHH LOLOLOLOL

AHA

24 inch it is! Thanks! I realised the response time is mostly a marketing plot!

:D

Cheers man! You're always there to help me :)
