Looking For Headphones $150

Anthony10

Hey I am looking for headphones, here is what I am looking for:

-Under $150

-Black

-Closed

-Over Ear

-Audio quality matches the price

-Simplistic Design (Non Gamery)

-Relatively Portable would be nice (foldable maybe?)

-Wired

I am already considering the ATH M50X (Not a big fan of the chrome, seem a bit 'outdated' but idk)

Thanks!

I'd suggest saving some money and getting the m40x instead, they sound virtually identical, and the m40x has the same features for cheaper.

@Anthony10 I find the Audio Technica's bland sound wise, but are good for the price.

If you can stretch to $180, Harman Kardon NCs fit your brief perfectly.

I found a used pair on ebay for $135 but I'd probably just get the Audio Technica's if you can't afford to go above $150.

I picked up the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro headphones and I love them. My only complaint, and it seems like something you'd not like as well, is that they don't fold up for portability. I sold my Sennheiser HD8 DJs because they hurt the top of my head after about 30min, but the DT990s are comfortable through hours of gaming, they look nice, the sound great, and the build quality is impressive. I think you could snag the DT990s on Amazon right now for about $165.

Laptop: Razer Blade 15 Advanced (2022) // i9 12-900H // 64GB DDR5 // 3080 Ti

I agree with the DT990 choice but only the 250 ohm version is under $200. Correct me if I'm wrong. The reason I bring this up is that you may require an amp for those headphones if you are referring to 250ohm cans.

I'm not sure Beyerdynamic has a 600 Ohm option for the DT 990 Pros. They do for the Premiums, but I would never consider the Premium models over the Pros for the absurd price and the barely evident comfort difference. I'd be interested in trying the M50x and K553 Pros, but I'm not about to spend that much time and money trying to find something that is potentially and only marginally superior. I can speak for the extended use comfort of the 990 Pros, though. Titanfall for 5+ hours and can barely tell they're there!

Pro 990 and 880 comes in one flavor, 250 ohms. The 770 is the exception as the premium of that line was discontinued.

These are the non pro versions. DT990's @ 32Ohms.  SSL, do you know if they are close to the Pros performance?

Should be close. They are supposed to be slightly worse than the higher impedances, but no one has botherd to demonstrate this to any degree of statistical significance. I'd get whichever is cheapest, which is usually the 990 Pro. If the 990 is the headphone you want, of course.
