So, lately, my internet has either been crashing EVERY single day, or is extremely slow. The peak download speed for my internet is 350kb/s. Now, as of now, I have time warner cable's cheapest offering in internet, and it is just sad. I called the other day, and they told me "Oh, you need a new router, the one that you currently have is worn out". I think that's bullshit, and they're trying to get me to waste my money for their shit internet. My router is a Belkin N150, and I was thinking of buying a new router just to see if that's really the problem, or if I should just switch over to comcast's performance internet.

that is bullshit

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

Is this over wifi or ethernet?

Wifi, but I really don't think it's my router.

It's not the speed i'm concerned about too much, more so the fact that I can't play something simple like a comp game of CSGO without INSANE lag and crashes. I understand my internet isn't the best for gaming, but this is just pathetic.

There might be issues with your Wifi and your devices that use wifi. Check speed with Ethernet and compare it to the wifi speed.

So you are concerned with the speed basically?

What exactly did you pay for?

Did you pay for up to 2 mb/s?

Because it can be anywhere from 1-2000 kb/s.

I know, but it never goes above 250-350kb/s.

Time warner gives me ebola aids, should I just switch over to comcast?

They both suck tbh but Comcast is better.

2 Megabits = 0.25 Megabytes = 250 Kilobytes.

1 Megabyte is 8 Megabits

Its a slick marketing trick that ISPs use to think your getting 8x what you are actually getting

Your not getting ripped off

Belkin routers are horrible. I use to work ISP support and many issues were caused by a customer going down to the big box store and buying a shit belkin router. I have told customers to return the router to the store, if they just bought it, and called to get help setting it up.

Honestly, you didn't give us much to begin with. First, and foremost how far are you from you router and how strong is the signal. Second, 2 Mbps (megabits) equals to 250 KB/s (kilobytes) or 2000 kb/s (kilobits). Third, while your router is not the best, it shouldn't have issues delivering 2Mbps.

Best way to figure out what is the issue is, to connect your PC/Laptop directly via Ethernet to the router, that way you rule out WiFi interference and low signal out of the equation.

I am amazed how much you people overpay your internet connection, $15 for 2Mbps, I paid that back in 2009.

Bahahaha I pay $99/month for 30/3 because there is literally only ONE ISP where I live so they can put their prices super high and no one can say anything
