What is your household power consumption?

I remember long time ago Luke mentioned power bill in one of the graphic card videos when Maxwell just came out, and notice that in the forum here there would be one group of people who worries about power consumption and another group that consider that a myth. So it got me thinking:

Are most people here aware of the monthly/annual power consumption of their household? How much does power cost in your country?

I know different countries will have different electric tariffs and culture around using power, and some countries people will have alternatives like gas or propane or something. But I thought it would still be an interesting topic.

I live in an apartment, purely electric. Wash, cook, heat, chill with electric. Two person live here, my gf and I, and we use about 300kWh a month, and I suppose I'm the big power user in the house, gadget and PC and all, I probably use 200kWh out of the 300kWh. Actively trying to cut it down a little bit because power cost a lot more when we use over 300kWh.

[southeast USA] Our monthly bill is only $100 atm, this near perfect weather results in open windows and low heating bills. When it's cold it gets up to about $200, unless it gets frigid.

Edit: I thought I would mention that we keep our home allot colder in the winter and warmer in the summer then others. 68f/72f  [compared to others in my area]

Funny that you ask. So my family (there are 8 of us) on any given month can use around 600-800 kilowatts on average. However, our house has 30 photovoltaic solar panels as well as a hot water heater solar panel, so our average energy bill per month is maybe around 50 to 60 bucks. This month, since we haven't had to pay for air conditioning because we've been able to keep the windows open, our bill is only around 20 bucks.

The real kicker is that the previous owners of the house who actually had the panels installed altogether payed like 5000 dollars for the entire installation, since I guess the government gives huge "coupons" if you will for people that add clean energy resources to their houses. I believe the subtotal or whatever for the panels was somewhere close to 30 grand. Not a bad deal at all.

I rent but I do my best to keep lights off most of the time.  I also shut everything down that is not serving a purpose when I got out.  As for how much I consume I don't see the bill so no idea.

In my country that's a lot of money per month to pay for electricity.

Here we pay like $20-30 dollars every 2 months on your average house xD.

I have a friend who pay less than $20, but he only turns on the stuff he really needs.

Man, thats really funny, cuz now that we live in a house with solar, when my parents have to pay more than 100 bucks for electricity, "somethings wrong" and we "need to cut down on our tv watching" and stuff like that. :D

Over $350 per months.

I honestly have no idea what consume so much power.

I think it might be the old pump for the central gas/water heating. (gas heat the water, water is pumped in the big pipes to massive radiator in all the rooms)

Hard to tell without knowing the tariffs. Different currency different electric rates. Different living style.

Here, first 200kW his 6 cents per kWh, next 100 is 9 cent per kW. 300kWh is roughly USD 21 (rough conversion). Anything over 300kWh cost like 15 cent++ per kWh.

The electric company consider all those using more than 300kWh are well off, thus charging more, and soon to be taxable :(

Well, I guess that's because we keep under 200KWh.

Nope, we only have like 2 nuclear power plants here in Mexico, we kind of suck when it comes to nuclear power plants xD.

No offense, but who'd be crazy enough to open an NPP in Mexico?

I guess another reason I posted here is because LTT is Canadian, and from Wikipedia it says Canadians average daily kWh per capita is 51.50

That kind of power consumption here per month would cost more than what minimum wage worker brings home every month... My little mind is telling me canadians have heaters in every room

No offense taken.

As I say before, we suck when it comes to nuclear power here, as far as I know those 2 power plants are not in good shape and are kind of a really old design,

I don't think we would have a Mexican Chernobyl but those things are old.

And yes, government is pretty crappy here, but oh well, is not like I can become president tomorrow and fix all this mess xD.
