R9 290x upgrade help 1440p need urgent help

JNF_Paste

Ok me along with many people feel that the 390x will be a huge release so say I buy a 290x now will I be able to upgrade when the 390x comes.Do you know of any upgrade program or anything I can do to upgrade?

If a 290x was what I decide to go with will I get higher then average playable rates on 1440?

Which 290x should I go for I'm a first time builder so don't know which one to choose?

What GPU should I get for 1440p?

Is 1440 possible at a budget of $1500?

I've done my research and want to build.Just the part selection I could't find a honest opinion because it is so scattered and theres a huge number of mixed opinions.

Just because im a little biased I would get a 970 G1 Gaming because with an overclock it blows the 290X out of the water.

PEWDIEPIE DONT CROSS THAT BRIDGE

1440p is possible at $1000.

I am not aware of any upgrade programs, but they might be out there.

If you do get a 290x, I would probably get a sapphire one.

You might be looking into a 970 as well though, at 1500 you should be looking at a 980 or SLI 970S/XFIRE R9270x.

There is no upgrade program that I know of. AMD does this so you can keep buying their old products right up until the new one is released.

Yes

Yes

R9 290X or GTX 970 (970 is better but more expensive)

Yes, just make sure to only spend $1000 on components and then spend the rest on the GPU, or something like that.

Happy building!

Here is an example of what a pair of R9 290's can do in Crossfire... I would imagine that a single R9 290 would yield around 55fps avg. The R9 290 is a much better value than the 290X and if you just buy a used one you can sell it once the 390X releases and upgrade.

Are you talking $1500 counting monitor, or $1500 just for the computer hardware?

As many people have said, both the R9 290X and a GTX 970 are excellent options for a 1440p setup.  As for the 390X, it looks like that card will be more on par with GTX 980 and will probably not be able to fully flex its muscles unless you're running some pretty demanding 1440p content.  Good luck in your future endeavors sir!

4k monitors are really expensive so not really worth it. You would spend half your budget on the monitor and not have good enough components to power 4k.

Yes it probably will be a big release.

Do you know of any upgrade program or anything I can do to upgrade?

No, usually hardware dosnt have an upgrade special or anything like that, if you sink $350 into a 290x now youll have to pay full price for a 390x in a few months (or weeks)

If a 290x was what I decide to go with will I get higher then average playable rates on 1440?

Yes, but that depends on what game u want to play.

This article is about the 970 but all of its benchmarks feature the 290x for comparison at 1440p

Which 290x should I go for I'm a first time builder so don't know which one to choose?

I would recommend these ones

What GPU should I get for 1440p?

Depends on what games u intend to play

For AAA titles (BF4, Crisis 3, FC4, Metro, WOW etc)

AMD: 290x, 290, 280x, 280

Nvidia: 970, 980

Mobas, Turn-based, RTS (LOL, Dota 2, CS:GO, SC2 etc)

AMD: 270x, 270, 260x

Nvidia: 960

Is 1440 possible at a budget of $1500?

Yes, this comes to mind, 4k for under $1k
