1080p or 1440p monitor?

As the title briefly states.. I was wondering whether I should purchase a 1440p monitor?

It will be powered by an i7-4790K and an MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G. I'm just wondering if 1440p is worth the extra price? I'm willing to spend up to £350 ($520). Should I save money and just stick with my current 1080p monitor, or is 1440p worth the extra price/performance? Thanks :)

im fairly certain you can go 4k for that budget

my standars go <=23" 1080 (24 if you stretch it) 24" =< 1440p 30"=<4k

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

There is no performance boost from a 1440p monitor lol it's the opposite. The higher the resolution the harder it is to run. I would stick with 1080p for now if you find it too small then get a 1440p monitor or go 4k . Your setup can run game at 1440p without any problem

might as well prepare for the future...

1080 of next year will be the puny 720 we despise today

1440p will no longer be high end but simply normal

you might be able to find a decent 1440 for around $400-$500 if you look around

2017 Macbook Pro 15 inch

At 1080p, you will most certainly get an average of 60fps on triple A games at high settings. Also, with the money you save from not getting a 1440p monitor, you can probably get an IPS or 144hz 1ms response time monitor, or maybe even one with G-sync.

If your current 1080p monitor is 27" then you'll see the most significant difference switching to 27" 1440p.

You should probably get the Samsung UM28D590D. It's a 4K 28" 1ms 60hz Monitor. Its around your budget and will offer plenty of screen space. You won't be able to drive games at this resolution but it will be brilliant for productivity. If you buy another GTX 970, you will be able to run games on here if you Overclock well. Best of luck. :)

My System has a Intel Core i7 4790k @4.5ghz Cooled by A Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO With a MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition and 16GB of Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz Memory.
