My PC Keeps Crashing While Playing Games

Ok, so while I know Intel HD Graphics are not meant for gaming, I still think it should be able to run Gmod and other non-graphic intensive games. However, when I try to play Gmod, it runs extremely smoothly on medium-high settings, but when I get about 5-10 minutes in my whole entire system crashes. I can't Ctrl+alt+del, when i press the power button nothing happens. I have to hold it down for about 10 secs for it to power down. I have an EVGA z97 FTW Motherboard and an i7 4790K Cpu. There are some settings in my Bios for graphics and I'm wondering if I should mess with those. Also, I am getting a GPU, I just don't currently have it. Any indication as to where this issue is coming from? Please help if you can in any way. Ask any questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability.

I get this sometimes, it could be a failing overclock. If you are OCd then turn it off and try again.

I haven't overclocked at all. I don't have a decent cooler yet, so I'm scared to. There are settings in my bios like DVMT and pre allocated memory for graphics, and it ranges from 32m to 512m but I'm scared to just throw all max settings up there. The strange thing is that the games run extremely smooth, then poof.

Hmm, there's probably someone more qualified than I on this forum, that was my only idea :P

What is your CPU temp when this happens? Could be overheating.

What memory are you using? Is it setup properly in the bios?

What kind of temps are you getting on your CPU while gaming? You can run HWmonitor in the background while playing games and it'll give you an idea.

Corsair Vengeance Pro 8 GB 2400 MHz. And what do I need to do to enable HWmonitor in the background while playing?

And it is 8 GB (2x4)

what PSU you got?

try MemTest to check for errors

reduce the RAM for the Intel Integrated to 256MB and see if that helps

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Antec HCG-M 750w. And alright, I'll do that now. And I think that it's at 256 in the bios. However I'm not entirely sure which settings are the right ones to change for the memory for the graphics.

are you using a ps3 or xbox controller?

No, not at all.

it will be under advance settings

look for video memory or where you set the mobo to boot to GPU or onboard

I knew where the settings were and 256 MB was already selected. What about the other settings? http://tinypic.com/r/166ezh4/8

maybe run a benchtest and see if this crashes it aswell,

do any other games or programs make it lock up?

Cpu : AMD Ryzen 3 1200 (3.8Ghz), Motherboard : Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 - RAM : 8GB DDR4 2933 Team (Vulkan) memory, GPU : MSI GTX 980 4GB Case : Antec P50, Storage : 120GB Samsung SSD, 3TB WD Blue, PSU : 530w Thermaltake SPS-530MPC, Cooling : Artic freezer Pro 7, OS : Windows 10.

It crashed on Hitman: Absolution at all low settings (Not that I could expect to run it, however on low settings at 1920 x 1080 I was getting at LEAST 45 frames). Running a test now using Memtest 86

Ok then I would leave it doing something that isn't massively CPU intensive, then again with another game to see if it crashes again.

If its Ok without being worked too hard but then crashes under heavy load I would check the temps.

Make sure the cooler fan hasn't stopped working (had this happen before) and that it isn't full with dust.

The fan is working just fine, especially since this thing was just built. I'm even using fresh thermal paste instead of the stuff that came pre-applied. I'll probably just wait until I get my gfx card, but I thought for sure I could play Gmod. :/

Maybe you used too much, and being on a stock cooler, with less than ideal thermal pasting applications, it's overheating and turning off.

Monitor temps under load and report give us a screenshot of HWmonitor with it's MIN/Current/MAX values.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
