go with MSI my friend went with MSI mobo and he said the results were great when it came to OC :)

CPU: FX8350  GPU:  Sapphire radeon r9 290x Tri-X  Mobo: Gigabyte 970A-UD3P  RAM:  Corsair Vengence 1866mhz 8GB  PSU: Corsair CX750M

I love my z97-A. The asus software was suprisingly awesome.

i preferred the 97a over the G5 for UEFI and Intel NIC.

 

yes the 97a is more expensive, but i do not care for the killer nic and the UEFI

IMO is clunky, generic and no CAPLOCK feature (TKL keyboard users need this

for POST)

Don't rule the Z97-PRO GAMER out either, which I think Newegg has around the same price (maybe about $10 more than the Z97-A).  I think ASUS released that to compete almost head-on with the MSI Gaming 5 (not to mention that it's good for those who just can't afford the RoG line).
