I'm not really sure about your PC usage (I'd assume heavy usage), but this is what I can find below $3000.

For what you're doing you most likely dont need either. Get a Intel Xeon E5-1650 abd X99 board plenty of ram and you should be good. A GTX 970 or 980 will be perfectly fine.

is Gtx 980 better than Quadro k4200 or titan X???? for this rig??

Probably better than the Quadro (obviously not better than titan X). But its good enough for GPU acceleration. If you have the extra 500 Bucks and wanna spend it then you can go for the Titan X obviously but im not sure how much its gonna affect render times compared to a 980.

If you want to save a little bit on the CPU, the i7 4930k is brilliant

Also, the titan X is centred around gaming. The original Titan is better for performance outside of gaming

If you are rendering DON'T go for a consumer grade video card. I personally have a Nvidia Quadro K5000 and I use it for both rendering and gaming. They run so much cooler and you can add a Nvidia Tesla GPU card that will drastically improve both cpu and gpu performance. Much better than SLI. I'd personally get one but my case and motherboard can't support two pci slots since it's mITX.

CPU is the most important part. Some software can use GPU to assist in rendering but make sure the CPU is good.

For what OP is gonna use it for a Quadro is complete waste of money and not necessary... And i doubt quadros run cooler than a 980 with a good aftermarket cooler.

If you get a quadro off ebay it's not too bad. I mean I got mine free through a connection, but it's worth while.
