If you ever played Mortal Kombat you know the game isn’t just pick up and get good, it requires practice. The first time a fatality felt amazing because you have to hit a certain amount of buttons pretty much perfectly to get your fatality. Now they have an optional fatality system for Mortal Kombat X were it just makes it too simple.

This was confirmed at a live stream on twitch which they do often. Community specialist Tyler Lansdown confirmed fans’ suspicion that a small skull near the bottom of the screen was linked to the new, easier fatalities. “Now we’ve learned through years and years of study that there are a lot of people that just can’t pull off fatalities, or they get freaked out or they can’t figure out the timing. So when the game launches you’ll have a couple of those – maybe three – on day one. You’ll have those just to use and do easy fatalities on” Lansdown publicised.

“There are certain places you can unlock those and things like that. So you’ll always have access to easy fatalities – if you want them” Lansdown resolved. Which mean you have to earn majority these skull on game which you spend on pulling off easy fatalities.

I remember when I mastered all of Scorpions move. I guess these skulls will be easy to hold of so it could it mean easy fatalitys all the time.

well this is sad I personally think that if the game work it's because there is a challenge aspect so even if people demand change they should not change to keep this challenge aspect.... it's always the problem of listening to much to people you end up doing thing that will hurt the game integrity. but maybe I'm wrong and this is a fantastic idea for people that can't do fatality (I still believe that people that are bad at execution shouldn't play combat game and expect to have a good time cause they will most likely not have a good time)

This doesn't have anything to do with the rest of the fight itself, just an easy to do fatality once it's pretty much over. So it's not like you can just be cheap and easily win.

As someone trying to get his girlfriend interested in games, this is a god send. I don't see how anyone would have a problem with it. Want to be a leet-bro or whatever, just do the combo yourself.

I never can get them to work with a 360 controller due to the shitty d pad, but on a keyboard it's actually fairly easy.

It's just fatalities though. You can only get a prompt for them AFTER you've won. I'm okay with this, just like I was okay with not having to unlock characters in fighting games anymore (I wish smash 4 had done away with it, but Nintendo doesn't see smash as a fighting game). This really doesn't qualify as "dumbing down" of games.

I remeber back in the 90's it was superhard to pull of finishing moves, I also remeber going to the news agent to get the lastest copy of a gaming mag to help

 

hopefully theres a option to turn this shit off.

How is it "cheap" though? We're talking fatalities meaning that you're already skilled enough to win the fight. Meaning you know powers, combos, blocking, counter attacks, etc. Who cares if you can't do 15 button presses within 2 seconds to do a fatality?

 

This has 0 impact on the outcome of fights so I say of course give us easier fatalities.

I do want to give this game a try because i used to play the classic mortal kombat back in the day

But to avoif dissapointment ill wait a week after release to see how it differes from previous versions

If its super good i will buy a controller, otherwise i will stick with a keyboard (keyboard kinda sucks for such gamed).

I mean, they're entirely optional. And it's not like a Fatality really does anything except looking totally badass. They happen after you've effectively beat the other player anyway.

 

For those who think these "easy mode" fatalities are too easy... Well.. simply don't use them. Practice and learn the combos and do them manually, like you've always done.

 

How can this possibly be anything but a good thing? I know tons of people who can't remember combos at all, and get annoyed or frustrated because they cannot do a Fatality.
