I need help with my capture card set up

zolo30

Hi everyone I am having an issue. I recently have decided that I hate switching HDMI cables in and out of my avermedia HD Gamer LIVE captuer card for when I want to switch from my WiiU or Xbox One so I decided to buy this splitter http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0030AZ44O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and to my dismay when i plug the splitter into my capture card i get no visual or audio from any source. Anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong and a better solution so I can quickly just swap sources and not cables for streaming?

That's a passive switch. In all likelihood, the capture card doesn't output enough power back to power the switcher or to initialize an handshake with the other devices.

Can you try if it works hooked up directly to a tv? If it does work on a TV, then you need an active HDMI switcher, such as this one: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011002&p_id=8462&seq=1&format=2

I will try it on a tv today when I get home and I was fearing such as it just  might be too weak.
