Is Scattervolt reliable

SodaPunch

I recently found a channel on Youtube called Scattervolt. He comments on videos of a lot of the people I'm subscribed to (some of the comments seem rude but maybe that's just me) I checked out his channel and he does pc builds and stuff. Some of the info he says seems to be slightly incorrect and if you look at the comments on his videos, you'll notice that there seems to be some disagreement between him and his viewers.

Is he a reliable channel in terms of the pc build videos he makes?

I've never heard of him before, and I just previewed a few of his videos, he seems to be like a basic non computer occupation kid. He's more like a kid who watched Linus for a year, and decided to make a youtube channel.

Depends, hes not anywhere near as reliable as this forum and some of the things he says are either wrong, or opinion based.

Meh, am subscribed to him but he tends to just do "best $x builds". I believe he plans to do build logs etc in the future but who knows... Never seen any of his comments and regarding the "best $x builds" - some parts are good some could be improved but that's really down to date and opinion

It Won't Fail Cause of Me.

That video is kinda b*******.

1 is worst of the 5 and 5 is best according the video.

  1. ($105) Intel Core i3 4150
  2. ($130) AMD FX 8320e
  3. ($194) Intel Core i5 4590
  4. ($228) Intel Core i5 4690k
  5. ($1000) Intel Core Extreme Edition i7 5960X

I MEAN NO F****** WAY.

It's like walking into a tech shop and you ask what's the best and the owner says "THE MORE EXPENSIVE STUFF IS BETTER"

Basic guide to CPU's!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

SOMEBODY IS GETTING A COPYRIGHT STRIKE.

Want proof this guy isn't reliable?

I don't entirely trust people that don't actually build and benchmark the rigs or have some sort of proof.

To me he's just someone that fiddles with pcpartpicker and decided to make videos to get ad revenue. And it's working because a huge part of the youtube community doesn't know much about PC hardware and the such.

The only thing I don't like about him is that he makes his pc build guides with rebates and comments on other build guide videos and says his is better even though the video he comments on does not use rebates to get the price it did; seems like a bit of false advertising I guess.

person below me is a scrub

I understand that small channels cant afford to build insane rigs, but really its bullshit cause he is obviously niot professional cause he makes so many errors, and he is somewhat an intel fanboy and he just sucks he goes on other youtube channels (tech) and then makes false comments and then people go over to him. Guess he is a desperate kid who wants money from ad revenue.

I thought I had some money... Oh wait... I spent it all ;(

If I posted the link to this thread on one of Scattervolt's videos, he would probably tell me some bullshit about how linustechtips doesn't make quality videos or something. xD

Do it.

He didn't even address the Xeon E3 1231 comments.

Probably wouldn't reply.

There's hundreds of benchmarks that show the i3-4150 is faster than the FX-6300, you could even get a slightly faster 4160 and it can preform up there with the FX 8xxx series.

I have no idea what I'm doing

In all honesty, I have no were to start. Not only does he have no idea what he's doing, he also gets away with builds that he has never benchmarked, tested, and/or used. He also compares GPUs based on their clock speed and cores. This has NOTHING to do with the facts. It all comes down to architecture, it's impossible to compare two GPUs from completely different families and architectures using only clock speed and unused technologies. And his "super mega ultimate pc build guides" are completely impractical and have no real purpose. I could talk for ages, but here you go, Tech Order does a better job.

I know he's older than me, but kid, keep the builds to the IT Pros.

So what do you think? Reliable, meh, or unreliable?

But kid, keep the builds to the IT Pros.

Not even that. Just keep the builds to people who have half a brain for this shit.
