Help with WU that's too big too fold for my PC (f@h)

Go to solution Solved by Extingquish,

Before the WU reached 3% completion (you can check this in the log) the ETA will be the amount of time you have left to complete the WU

Give it 30-45 minutes and it should be a more reasonable estimate :)

So the question is, how do I decline a work unit and how can I set F@H so it will avoid assigning WUs that will expire before my pc can crunch it. Last night I received work unit 10471 and I noticed that it was progressing really slowly. It turns out that it will take 9 days and I only have 11 days before it expires. I don't want to run my pc overnight and this means that it would take my computer at least 13 and a half days to finish, not including when I have to stop F@H to play video games.

I just started Folding@Home this week and so far I've been doing well but this is my first real issue. Thanks for the help ahead of time and I'll understand if there is nothing I can do about this. Below is my WU.

What's the gpu running this WU?

I would just give it a little more time to stabilise.

It's the amazing gtx 650 ti-boost blower style cooler by evga. <sarcasm> A bit overkill I know but it's what I got. </sarcasm>

I'd say let it run for about half an hour to have it stabilise, I can't imagine that gpu to take so long.

Yeah, it's normally 12 hours per WU or so but this one just looks unusually (from what I've seen) tough.

p.s. thanks for answering.

Yeah that makes sense. I went to watch a video for a little longer and it went from stable 9 days to stable 2 days and went to just over 3% completion. Thanks Extingquish and Vavetti.

P.S. Quote glitched somehow so this is an odd post.

In a hypothetical scenario where this actually was

a problem, on the gpu there isn't much you can do.

On a cpu that is too slow for regular wu's, the best

option would be to run the chrome plugin with

smaller/easier wu's. Other than that there isn't alot

you can do except not running the gpu.

That is unless something is wrong ofcourse, in which

case we would need to figure out what that is  ;)
