New build with 860K no post

gylmir

hello all,

i have build a new system for my brother just for little gaming and school work.

i assembled everything in the case like i did with all my own computers in the past.

but when i push the power button the system powers up every fan spins but i get no response on the screen no bios post no beep nothing.

i tried every vga port on the mobo and the gpu with no succes also tried with my monitor no succes but his monitor works on my pc good.

so i can tell its not the screen.

there is also no os on the system yet.

this is the full list of parts i used in the pc

mobo: MSI a78-g41 pc mate FM2+

cpu: athlon x4 860K

ram 8gb kingston hyperx ddr3 1600mhz 1 stick

ssd: 128 sandisk

PSU: sharkoon wpm 500 watt 80plus bronze

GPU r7 260x

if somebody know a solution or had any experience with this.

thanks in advance for helping

The 860k is a rather new cpu. The motherboard probably doesn't support the 860k out of the box. You have to update the bios of the motherboard by installing a supported cpu like an athlon x2 340.

You need a Gpu.

I believe the 860K is the 7850K with the iGpu Disabled.

His motherboard supports the chip.

You didn't understand me -.- The motherboard does support the cpu but since the cpu came out after the motherboard the motherboard doesn't support it. The bios has to be updated so that the cpu can post.

Sorry, you're right.

I looked at the wrong page on the Msi website.

No...Your motherboard supports M-flash

You can flash it without having to install anything other than the PSU

**Edit**

M-Flash wasn't what I thought it was. You need an MSI gaming edition MB to use the "no additional component" USB bios flash.
