980 V 290x

Merlorz

So erm, yeah the title says it.

I'm leaving my job and my boss is giving me a 200 Euro (217.17 USD) discount on anything. So I was thinking why not a graphics card upgrade.
My current card is a AMD HD6950 (ancient in tech world)
So I have two cards I can struggling with. The GTX 980 and the R9 290x.

The 290 would save me around 200 bucks in comparison with the 980. But the 980 is better on paper and consumes less power.

But my biggest struggle is would I be buying this card in the wrong time? Because I don't wanna see that next month a 4K GPU (not costing 999 or 799) is comming out..

If you're saving 200 euros then i would say get the 980.

From what I have heard the Nvidia Has better driver support.

but given your situation the AMD 290 will save you money.
that is my input.
