AMD FX 6300 overheats

anastasis33
Go to solution Solved by Nakano2k1,

when i purchased this machine the guy guranteed it woudnt get overheated (the irony) and taking it there they would take me about 15-20 euros so they can send it to HQ so they can fix it there. The new fan costed about 30 euros and thats why i purchased it.I believe it to be a rip off to send it for 20 when i can resolve the problem for 30 or so

That's ridiculous...

It's unfortunate that they won't stand behind their warranty.

Well, while you're waiting for the new cooler to arrive, you should study up so you'll be ready to go when it gets there.

Good video for installation on AM3+ cpus.

Be sure to clean the cpu like I said before installing the new cooler.

What should i do about it? i ordered a COOLERMASTER RR-212E-16PK-R1 HYPER 212 EVO. Will this be enough? My temperatures ATM are 83 C

If you aren't overclocked atm then you should see temps from 30c at idle to 70c at full load. Buy some good ass themal paste if you can, too.

Are you overclocking the FX-6300? If so, what kind of voltage are you using? The FX-6300 usually comes with WAY more voltage than it actually requires at stock.

The Hyper 212 evo is a GREAT cooler. It'll keep that chip cool. Keep in mind that the setup of the cooler on the motherboard is somewhat involved and so that's something you should be ready for. When preparing the CPU you really need to get rid of the old thermal compound by using rubbing alcohol of a high concentration or something similar. Then when reapplying the thermal compound provided by cooler master in the box, be sure to not to use too much. AMD cpus work best when placing a small amount (about half the size of a normal pea) in the middle of the cpu. Then place the cooler on top and tighten about 25% on each side. Give the cooler a couple of small wiggles and tighten down the rest of the way in a star pattern.

83*C? That is indeed a hefty temperature for the inside of a System.

Providing it is installed correctly the 212EVO should cover it but do not take my word for it.
Once you've installed your system you should keep an eye on the Temperature, if it is still
hitting 70-80*C then you need to look into other problems such as the probability that the
case fans are not working correctly, or are working on a lower function than they should be.

Get back to us once the new Unit is installed!

Hope you get a Fix! =)

No. It isnt overclocked

Do you have any additional airflow in your case? What are you using as an enclosure? (case)

You need to circulate the air, otherwise you'll just be recycling the stagnant air which will slowly get warmer and warmer when you use the CPU for prolonged periods of time.

This is the case. ( it also has a fan on top)

ok, as long as it has at least one fan.

You know the memory needs to be installed into the same colour slots in order to function in dual channel mode? It looks as if yours is installed in incorrect slots.

Did you purchase this PC from a local store? It looks fairly well put together. If so, I would take it back to them and tell them about the overheating issue.

The thing is, if you install the new heatsink, it will most likely void any warranty you had with the original store. I would bring it to them and try to have them fix it. If that doesn't work, then tell them about the new heatsink and have them install it for you.

if they try and charge you for installing the new heatsink, tell them to get lost. They should be doing it for free, given your situation.
