Having trouble picking PSU

I am looking for a fully modular power supply and I had been looking at the EVGA 650 G1 but after looking into it I scrapped it and am now looking at the Corsair RM 750 since it is on sale from newegg with 40% off https://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-rm750. I have heard some bad things about it concerning heat and the fan but that was before the recall.

Anyone have experience with it post recall? or advice concerning alternatives in the 60-80$ price range? The 750 is a bit overkill for what I will ultimately have but I am looking for a bit of redundancy in terms of wattage and fully modular so it does fit my criteria. Thoughts?

#1.Don't get a RM PSU.They last like only a year

#2.Don't get EVGA unless your getting 1000w or higher

#3.Seasonic is a good company as well as superflower and XFX

Anything from them would be better.Such as the Seasonic G-Series 80+ Gold Semi-Modular?

I'd go for the 650 G1.

The problem is the voltage regulation sucks for them from what ive read and they are either quiet or loud.

EVGA 650G1 all the way. I kinda push mine to the limits and it doesn't care. The fan in mine just has to speed up a bit due to the load. :P

I'm not sure. Mine is fairly loud (air whooshing), but @Darkman says his is quiet. Mine has a lot more going on though.

The heat issue have been fixed, as you have stated. But that is no longer relevant either, as the RM750/850 had been updated once again. This time a platform similar to the HXi series. For $80 after MIR, the RM750 isn't such a bad deal as it was before, provided that you do get the rebate. It also indeed better than the NEX650G / Supernova G1. However, the based price is the same as the EVGA Supernova 750w G2, and the XFX XTR 750w is set for even cheaper. Both option would be better than the RM750.

#1.Don't get a RM PSU.They last like only a year

1) While the RM series isn't the best build unit for the price, they will definitely last more than one year. Especially considering how the RM750/850 had been updated to have full Japanese NCC secondary caps (the main complaint that many people had on it regarding longevity ) on a different platform.

2) The 750/850 G2/P2 are Super Flower Leadex design like the higher wattage units, while the 750/850 GS/PS are Seasonic KM3/XP2. Often enough, they are priced very well as well. It would be a shame that the OP ignore such a viable option.

Out of curiosity which versions do you have? I was just checking again on Newegg and was wondering since there were two models.

The new one doesnt have a handle.

Bad link, but I don't think either of us have one with a handle (I know mine doesn't).

Fixed the link. The NEX650G (with handle) and the Supernova 650w G1 (no handle) both are based on the same FSP Aurum design internally with the same D14BH-12 fan from Yateloon. I've seen complaints calling the NEX650G rather noisy, and it make sense as the fan start at a high ~1000 RPM and can ramped up to over 2000RPM. Also due to design, while it is very efficient, it doesn't really perform well electrically as the RM750 and Supernova G2 (especially with the G2). As such, I would look at something other than the G1

Yes. As stated above, they are the same PSU internally. They both have four 12v rails @ 20A - 632w / 53A combined. If you look at the internal through the exhaust, you noticed that it has the same general layout. This only thing change is the removal of the handle and all black cables and connectors.

Yeah, that's a Seasonic G unit internally, but offer full modularity, semi-passive mode, and a FDB fan. It's a solid build unit.

Since you said you want to buy sleeved cables, CableMods sell them. http://cablemod.com/products/?filter_models=23

The XFX XTR is compatible with the SE series, as shown here: http://cablemod.com/compatibility/
