Stupid question about 1080p and 1440p scaling. HELP

Dabasepc

Hi,

I have a question about Resolution on 27 inches Monitor.

I'm about to purchase a 27 inches monitor with a recommended resolution of 1920 x 1080 (1080p)

Can I use Maxwell's Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) in my NVDIA control panel to make it 2560 x 1440 (1440p) ???

or it won't work.

The game will be rendered in 1440 but downscaled to 1080p since the hardware (monitor) has not all those pixels

CPU: Xeon 1230v3 - GPU: GTX 770  - SSD: 120GB 840 Evo - HDD: WD Blue 1TB - RAM: Ballistix 8GB - Case: CM N400 - PSU: CX 600M - Cooling: Cooler Master 212 Evo

Update Plans: Mini ITX this bitch

What's the point of DSR thn?

i found this on geforce website: they put the resolution in 4k with a 1080p monitor.

it would make it look a bit sharper than just 1080p

but if you want to see 1440p you need to have a 1440p monitor

It doesn't make it 4k. It makes a sharper 1080p image due to downscaling from a larger resolution. 1080p < DSR 4k to 1080p < 4k native.

I live in Canada. This is the one i'm getting. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/benq-monitor-xl2730z

it's 27" 144hz 1ms and 1440p.

The Asus Rog swift over here is $1k over. worth it to pay an extra $300 for G-sync? I run 970 FTW in SLI

1440p at 60hz starts at 430$

What do you recommand me to get

unless you play a lot of competitive fps games every day, i would stay with 1440p 60hz

if youre gona spend 400$ you might as well get this one: LG 29um67 - 29inch, IPS, 2560x1080, 75hz, freesync

variable refresh rate and 21:9 = FAR more enjoyable than any 16:9 claustrophobia monitor with its endless stutters, lag and screentrearing
