Locked Graphics card AMD 4800 Series Sapphire

I think this is how I say it, I am quite new and I have a "locked" graphics card it won't let me overclock it unless I unlock it with AMD overdrive said this video on YouTube. But for some reason when I install the software it comes with loads of different things but not overdrive.

Have you tried using MSI Afterburner to overclock?

Is it possible the drivers don't support that old card anymore? Also, what graphics card is it precisely?

Hi, I am not entirely sure. for me it says ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series in the device manager.

I cant really remember, but there should be a tab in the software for overclocking. Also, try other programs such as msi afterburner, evga precision x or whatever.

I would swear it's not unclockable, my cousin gave it to me and he does all sorts of engineering and he said next time he is round he will overclock it. I assume that he knows that you can overclock it. I am trying to contact him but he is not replying so I came here xD. Okay thanks anyway mate.

If the stickers hasn't fallen off the card at this point, pull the card out of the case, and and see if it tells you exactly what card it is.. If there is random codes, search all of them up untill you see what card there is.. Send me a pic or 2 of the card if possible :P

If you have to use a legacy driver and not the latest catalyst drivers to use the 4800 series maybe the overdrive functions are disabled... or overclocking it in general.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

We can see right there in that picture...

There's a stick right near the RAM slots, on the back of the card.

BTW, the AMD OverDrive you downloaded is for Processor / RAM overclocking.

Graphics Card is overclocked via Catalyst Control Center.

You need to unlock the overclocking features because a message pops up saying you need to understand the risks.

The older Catalyst Driver hand a little pad-lock icon that you need to press.

Looking at your MSi Afterburner, you CAN overclock. The "Core" and "Memory" sliders are not greyed out.

The old HD 4800 series doesn't have temperature and Power Limit Control. That was first introduced with the HD 6000 series.

I still have a HD 4850 in my HTPC.

Neither my HD 4850 or HD 5850's has Power and Temperature Control Limit options.

What version drivers are you using?

You can't use the newer drivers since the HD 4000 series is considered a "legacy" product, and does not follow the usually driver update schedule.

The latest available for your HD 4800 is 13.9. If you don't have it already, I suggest you uninstall your current drivers and install the latest one.

**Make sure you reboot your computer after the drivers have finished installing.

Regarding to overclocking your graphics Card with Catalyst Control Center, there SHOULD be an extra menu selection.

"Performance" --> "Graphics Overdrive"
