choosing a coin.

hello guys, i have never properly gpu mined. i have a  sapphire 280 and im looking for a coin that has pools, and i can stop and start mining when ever i want, as my pc will only be on when im using it. i understand you dont make a lot of money and its unefficient but i may as well do it when im not doing intensive tasks! So yeah i would like a good coin to mine, please and any advice you guys have.

thanks

~James

seems like the coin the rest of the LTT guys are on.

i had some friends that mined multiple types of coins, what ever the newest was, then turned them into bitcoins.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

I really don't know, I'm not the person to talk to about mining :/

I don't think you can do that with any coin. i was under the impression that whoever crafted the latest block the most got the coin for that block. or something of that nature.

all the blocks in the chain have to be up to date, i don't think you can go back and finish. it's basically a race.

I find the whole coin mining business baffling and real shady.

You can sell the virtual currency for real money, but were does the money ultimately come from? Is there a real service performed or usable product made in the process?

people accept bitcoin for payment of products and services now.
