Power supply for gaming computer: corsair ax860i or ax1200i.

adidasler
Hello everyone :) . I'm new here. I configure my new computer and I need help with power supply  .

These are the components that I will install:

GA-X99-G1 Gaming WIFI

Intel Core i7-5820K

DDR4 4GB (4x4GB) Crucial, 2133MHz

MSI GTX980 Gaming 4GB GDDR5

Samsung 120GB 850 Series

WD 2TB, WD20EZRX, SATA III, 64MB Cache, WD Caviar Green

Corsair Hydro Series H110i GT

ASUS BW-16D1HT / B Blueray writer

After a while I will install additional gtx980 and additional DD4.

Please help with power supply.

I think between the corsair ax860i and ax1200i.

Welcome to the Forum.

1) Please use PCPartPicker.

2) You should be fine with the AX860i.

Sig under construction.

gonna go SLI later?  pick 1200W

my 750W is dying here.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

860 would be wayyyy more than enough tbh.

1200 is just making sure you're set for any possible future upgrades for the next 5-7 years minimum.

Going X99 for only gaming is worthless mate. You can get much more value at the z97 platform with an i5 4690k.

it's not worthless specially with DX12 right around the corner. But the components he picked were pretty much over the top and he could get cheaper one's with pretty much the same features.

No one knows what the future will bring, buying for right now is much better.

I would used the computer for work, too (cad drawing, rendering, etc.)

After a while I'll upgrade it, maybe next year. One graphics surely, possibly the hard drive, DDR4 additional 16 GB.
Just I don't know if I put ax1200i right now, if there will be some problems for the current components considering its voltage?

Get EVGA Supernova G2 850W, if you want room for SLI and more OC go for the 1000W

Both are guaranteed to be cheaper by a bit than those of Corsair and still deliver good quality
