look into getting used parts from amazon, that's the best way to do it.

btw, what games are we talking about here?

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

EDIT: Damn site froze up on me. Working on it.

Not even Newegg? I mean, only Amazon and the limitations are real.

Realizing they probably need windows to be included in the budget my hopes went way down for this...

Really all I could do was this:

CPU: AMD A8-6600K 3.9GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($113.78 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A68HM-HD2 Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard  ($47.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Rosewill FBM-01 MicroATX Mini Tower Case  ($29.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply  ($32.99 @ Amazon)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32/64-bit)  ($101.79 @ Amazon)
Total: $404.02
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

This is what I'd go for if I were limited to $400 and Amazon:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mXP9pg

CPU: Intel i5-4690k                                                               RAM: 16gb Corsair Vengance Pro DDR3-2400                                                                     Case: NZXT S340

Mobo: Asus Z97-A 3.1                                                          GPU: 980ti G1                                                                                                                          OS: Windows 10 Pro

-If she's set on $400 and Amazon only, this is really solid:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mXP9pg

CPU: AMD FX-4300 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($91.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI 760GMA-P34(FX) Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard  ($49.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Patriot Viper 3 Red 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory  ($57.18 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital RE3 250GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($24.75 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Zotac GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card  ($129.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Silverstone PS08B (Black) MicroATX Mid Tower Case  ($39.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply  ($32.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $426.88

But compare that to the builds below with Newegg added to the equation:

-Here's with Newegg unlocked in combination with Amazon:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hVcNjX

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($81.98 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Asus A68HM-Plus Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard  ($52.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($56.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital RE3 250GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($24.75 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Zotac GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card  ($129.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Deepcool TESSERACT BF ATX Mid Tower Case  ($27.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: EVGA 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply  ($32.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $400.68

-Here's the same as above but a $500 budget:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/f9rtbv

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($81.98 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Asus A68HM-Plus Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard  ($52.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($56.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($50.92 @ Amazon)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card  ($189.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Rosewill Galaxy-01 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($44.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $506.85

Newegg is a great site, I'd recommend she open up to using it. And if you can go to $500, the overall gaming experience would be greatly enhanced.

CPU: Intel i5-4690k                                                               RAM: 16gb Corsair Vengance Pro DDR3-2400                                                                     Case: NZXT S340

Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo                                                  Storage: Intel 730 SSD                                                                                                            PSU: EVGA 850G2

Mobo: Asus Z97-A 3.1                                                          GPU: 980ti G1                                                                                                                          OS: Windows 10 Pro

Total: $436.54

Cut the 8gigs of ram down to 4 if you need to keep price under budget. Just tell them no cranking up the settings. Also, this price is no rebates.
