Scarlett 2i2 disconnecting

CIH600

A month or 2 ago I bought a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. I seem to be having an issue where it randomly disconnects from my computer. The scarlett functions both and a line in and a line out. The line in just drops signal completely and the line out shows some random amount of signal in the internal audio mixer in Windows 7. I am not sure whether it is the interface or my computer that is causing the problem. I have tried updating drivers and reinstalling them and nothing seems to be helping. Any advice would be very much appriciated.

I have a usb hub with a keyboard and mouse plugged into it.

Is the Scarlett plugged into that as well, and is it a powered hub?

The Scarlett is not plugged into the hub. It is going directly to my computer. And the hub is unpowered.

I just tried removing all usb devices from my computer except for the Scarlett and it still disconnected. The problem also seems to be happenning more frequently.

In that case I would contact Scarlett support immediately.

Sorry I couldn't help more. Let me know if they have a solution that doesn't involve RMA. :)

Probably checked this already, but what USB port are you using, 2.0 or 3.0? 2.0 devices are known to have problems when plugged to USB 3.0 ports. Also try other ports as well (back ports should be more reliable than the front casing ports)

Also there's a possibility that it needs a stable current from the USB port, and it's not getting it. A way to remedy this is to get a powered USB hub, but just plug it exclusively, don't plug other devices to that same hub.

Did you ever resolve this? I ran into a similar issue with a different usb sounds interface and ended up having to rma my Asus board.

I have not yet found a solution. I am looking for a powered hub as creatip123 suggested. I don't have any usb 3.0 ports on my computer because I purchased it before usb 3.0 was released. I contacted the manufacturer and they haven't responded.

Ran into the exact same issue with my 8i6 about a week ago. Signal would just drop out of nowhere.

Unplugging and replugging the USB from the back of the unit worked, but that's a pain in the ass, and I shouldn't have to do that.

Luckily a simple uninstall of drivers and Scarlett Mix Control, switching the USB port, and then reinstalling SMC and the driver worked, and I've had no issues since. Try to have it plugged into a port that isn't shared with another peripheral.
