[Speculation] AMD Fiji 390x Possibly a dual GPU card

This is not the first time I've heard this rumor/speculation, but according to Fudzilla , there is considerable evidence that the New Fiji Graphic card coming from AMD may actually be a dual gpu card.

http://www.fudzilla.com/news/graphics/37373-amd-fiji-has-two-gpus

So, when Fudzilla wrote that Fiji is going to ship with 8GB of RAM, we didn’t actually think that we were talking about two separate GPUs, on separate interposers, with each GPU using 4GB of HBM1 memory. This is how AMD got to 8GB, or should we say two times 4GB for this card. It makes much more sense now, and of course we would not be surprised to see Fiji for notebooks and lower-end desktop products in a single GPU configuration.

This speculation contradicts their previous article discussing HBM1 vs HBM2, where they state that HBM1 is capable of 16GB, while HBM2 doubles that at 32GB, which Nvidia Pascal may end up having.

http://www.fudzilla.com/news/memory/37308-hbm-1-memory-of-amd-fiji-pictured

With first generation HBM memory it is at least theoretically possible to design a card with 8GB to 16GB of memory, assuming that the company would be using 4 HBM chips on an interposer, resulting in 512GB/s bandwidth on a four-chip HBM card.

I for one don't believe this dual card speculation is true, especially given the time since AMD's last flagship graphic card. Until it's confirmed, I'm going to assume the 390x will be a single gpu card.

I expect that fudzilla just went full retard and there is a 395x2 that they're reporting on.

Comparing it to the 295x2 would not make sense then. It performs worse then a dual graphics card it could be replacing, also the price wouldn't make sense either. I would think a dual GPU card would be more expensive.

I hope it F**ing is not.

Yeah that makes me think it's just a rumour to draw attention to the site.

I assume there's 2 versions of this.

1. R9 390x air cooled, maybe this version will only include 1 Fiji card

2. R9 390x WATER cooled, maybe this will be 2 GPUs, 2 R9 390x's ... with water cooling.... :o

Yeah that makes me think it's just a rumour to draw attention to the site.

All the rumors up to date would be false then. I don't believe that. I bet there will be a single GPU 390X and a dual core 395X2. Both will have to be watercooled. I can bet ANYTHING that the R9 395X when it comes out (hopefully) will have such a massive TDP that it will feature a 240mm radiator!!

So based on the title I would assume that the two GPUs are having a fight to the death?

Then the 395X will have to be = 395X4!!

That would make sense, something that's impossible for AMD to do with their stupid naming conventions. In fact they're so bad at naming I can almost believe this rumor just because of that.

Just thinking about 280 - 285 - 280x pisses me off actually

They wouldn't call them the same name, that's not how marketing works.

Too many people would get confused.

The 390X is a single GPU card.. The HBM is stackable which means they can do things like this.

Technology is a curse... why? Because it's so addictive.

lel, this absoultely cannot be true. Fudzilla themselves are also reporting on a 395x2

Also if this were the case and the rumored benchmarks were true it would put there next duel gpu performing slower then the 295x2?

yah, that shit dont make sense yo.

With all the rumors and stuff aside, if AMD jobs the ball with their new gpus...they done f***ed up. This GPU better blow me away, price or performance wise.

Let's just wait and see what will their top single chip card be. More interested in that over dual card for now.

It better not be damn it Crossfire support is terrible, I'm running it right now and out of 1 full TB of games installed only 1 game actually supports it and that's Shadows of Mordor.  BF4 is meant to but just crashes as of right now if I try and run it with crossfire enabled lucky it runs over 100fps at all times on ultra with just a single card.
