My 970's are getting hot.

I have 2 MSI Twin Frozr 970's in SLI. My top one gets really hot to about 80 Celsius but my bottom one stays pretty cool around 65-70. I want to overclock but I really don't want to get too high temps. Any suggestions on keeping them cooler other than adjusting fan curve? Thanks for all of your suggestions!

Better case airflow. With non-reference cards in SLI you want the most possible airflow over those cards so you can exhaust out the hot air they're producing and intake them fresh air. If there's low airflow the top card will just suck in hot air that's being produced by the bottom card. Consider turning the speed of your case fans up, or adding more.

The top card will always be hotter.

Try using the 2nd card as your main card and letting the upper card be the slave one.

I had the same issue with my 780s, i put a random corsair 120mm fan that i had lying about inbetween the hhd bay and cards blowing air onto the cards, just sort of wedged It in now the top card in 4K 3d mark only gets to about 65c not 80 any more and the bottom card runs about 50c it you cant get in in there safely you should be ok. Hope it helps
