GTX 980 vs. Titan X

I am building a PC for a medium sized minecraft server (I know, I am such a noob) and I need to know which graphics card to buy. I have to money to spare, and my PC's specs are: i7-5820k, 32GB RAM, 850w PSU, Asus V Rampage Extreme.

Should I go for the Titan X or the 980 (classified)? Thanks!

If you're gaming Titan X would be better, but for minecraft server I think you won't need very high end GPU....

If you have the money for a titan X  I would wait to see if the R9 300 series cards to see if they are going to be as good as a roomer.  but if your not going to wait I would get the better of the 2 cards and go with the titan x.

I also play CS:GO, use heavy Cinema 4D, Java, and Adobe After Effects

I am not a big fan of AMD, just saying. I have had so many problems with them in the past.

The Titan X preform 25%~40% better than the GTX 980, but costs almost 50% more. Go figure. For a Minecraft server you won't need a state-of-the-art GPU. I suggest the 980.

I also use very heavy C4D, and Java.

Titan X still would be a better choice (but damn expensive), GTX 980 is also great, actually both are great. If you're willing to spend more Titan X is a better choice.

a minecraft server is more CPU

I agree, Minecraft is a CPU intensive game, it uses more CPU. Also RAM....

If it's dedicated as a server wouldn't you be better going with a zeon?

You don't have to use Xeon for Minecraft server.

Well, if you mean Xeon in 1150 socket then it could be a better choice. It's 4 cores hyper-threaded and has the price of an i5 (but I'm not sure Xeon for gaming).

This build is an all-around, gaming, rendering, processing beast. But I chose i7 because it's more gaming centered. Xeons are more for big servers. This would be no big server. I think I will go with the Titan

ok, I think if u want one efficient card, go with a titan but if you're fine with 2 cards, than go with 2 980's

It's better to have a single stronger cards though.

yea, but 2 980 vs a titan x is a difficult choice

What about Titan's in SLI? DUN DUN DUUUUUUN! On a more serious note, I am trying to go for a relatively cool build. So putting 2 980's will increase temps. I also like the 3072 but architecture of the Titan. It also has more shader cores and other crap I want.
