290X Faster As Fast As the Titan X w/ ->Draw Calls<- w/ DX12 Enabled

EDIT: This is a misleading title. Thank you techies! This has to do with draw calls rather than actual performance. I do trust Nvidia with that.

its just the number of draw calls its capable of handling from the cpu. Drivers also play a part in this, and AMD have a huge head-start because of Mantle.

PCper did their own testing and AMD currently handles draw calls better than Nvidia... for now at least.

*EDIT* these charts are actually from PCPer, so in this case wccftech is correct about the numbers.

This test doesnt show GPU performance, it rather just shows how many DrawCalls are distributed to the GPU by the CPU, using different APIs. That website is blacklisted on many tech forums for a reason. . . .

this cannot be correct, but regardless, DX12 gives me a boner just thinking about it.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

The R9 290X is actually about on par with the GTX 970, so I call BS on an R9 290X getting even close to a Titan X.

It has to do with the draw calls, not really the speed/power of the card.

I really hope AMD can destroy Nividia with the new cards, but I doubt it will actually happen.

Well the writer isn't exactly trying to convey the message that it is better in all aspects, "I should remind everyone that these are synthetic benchmarks which should not be taken as the be-all end-all performance metric. Also please keep in mind that the race for faster, more efficient DX12 drivers is still in its infancy and very much represents a leapfrog pattern at this point. "

And this, children, is exactly why people frown on using WCCF as a source. :P

You know what's easier than buying and building a brand new PC? Petty larceny!
If you're worried about getting caught, here's a trick: Only steal one part at a time. Plenty of people will call the cops because somebody stole their computer -- nobody calls the cops because they're "pretty sure the dirty-bathrobe guy from next door jacked my heat sink."

very misleading

pcper already said an overclocked 960 will achieve the same results as a 980

but in real world games it will never haappen

Mantle is lower lvl API than DX11 by a lot. And as mentioned, the graphs are for draw calls not in game performance in FPS :)

"As for the AMD and NVIDIA debate, both Futuremark and Microsoft continue to push upon us that this feature test is not a reasonable test of GPU performance. Based on our overclocked results with the GTX 960 in particular, that is definitely the case. I'm sure you will soon see stories claiming that one party is ahead of the other in terms of DX12 driver development, or that one GPU brand is going to be faster in DX12 than the other, but that is simply not a conclusion you can derive from the data sets provided by this test. Just keep calm and wait - you'll see more DX12 gaming tests in the near future that will paint a better picture of what the gaming landscape will look like in 2016. For now, let's just wait for Windows 10 to roll so we can get final DX12 feature and comparison information, and to allow Intel, NVIDIA and AMD a little time to tweak drivers."

FFS wccf tech, are you stupid?

He is being misleading regardless of how many disclaimers he puts. He uses a click bait and then puts that disclaimer just to beat back the people who whine that the article is misleading. The source used is frowned upon for a reason.

The Titan-X may have more power but lacks in speed.

DX12 here I come

I really don't think this will affect game performance.\

**EDIT

Honestly looks legit to me.Not because i'm a fanboy or anything but wftc tech is a credible source that's why

In those benchmarks the Titan X isn't even faster than the 980. Which we all know to be bogus. Please don't start this now.

That's only drawcalls. Means almost nothing in terms of in-game performance. And as you can see from the graph, the 290X was ALREADY faster in this particular field even with dx11.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Keep your fanboy boners in check, this thread title is misleading.

To be fair to op the article title was just as misleading.

Take this from the proud owner of a 290x: No, it won't be that fast outside of tech demos. In fact many games are Nvidia sided to begin with so, nope don't get your hopes up guys.
