What are some way to test a hard drive for possible damage from a fall?

trainergames

Ok i am fixing a laptop for a coworker,i am the power jack got damaged from being dropped(it still worked if you held it just right),i know when i was testing it before the teardown it took 10 minutes for it to boot into windows 7.

Even on a virus filled OS with weaker hardware i have never had it take that long to boot, could that be a sign the HDD was damaged?

If so what are some ways i can test to be for sure?

I already ran CrystalDiskInfo that said drive health was good, and i could not get CrystalDiskMark to start so i could not run it.

Are there any audible abnormal noises?

Is the disk fragmented?

Off the top of my head.

Did crystaldiskinfo say anything about reallocated sectors and other sector errors? Could it be other components that are damaged leading to a slow boot?

Drive manufacturers often have tools that can be used to test drives.

If your not worried about the data on the drive, a full format or zeroing out the drive should bring up any errors in crystaldiskinfo not yet realized through just starting it up.
