Futuremark Release 3DMark API Overhead Feature test

ahhming

Futuremark release the API overhead test which will test:

DirectX 12, (Windows 10 required or Windows 10 Technical Preview (Build 10041 or later)).
 Mantle, (with compatible AMD hardware).
DirectX 11, both single- and multi-threaded.

The purpose of the test is to compare the relative performance of different APIs on a single system, rather than the absolute performance of different systems. The API Overhead feature test is not a general-purpose GPU benchmark, and it should not be used to compare graphics cards from different vendors.

However it will only be available in 3DMark Advanced Edition and 3DMark Professional Edition.

Checked Steam,.. 3Dmark updated, it's 190MB if I recall...

I do not know if this was available before the update..

One the test gets to under 30fps it stops.

I know... don't ask me...I have no idea..

Probably still some bugs still present they missed,.. as per my post showing one already with how the score is shown for Mantle's DC per second.

Interesting year this will be. All optimizations shown sure look excellent! Can't wait to see how next games get baked and optimized.

Maybe because AMD driver don't support DX11 command list multi-threading.

Hmmm would like to check this out but can't bring myself to pay money for a benchmark.

Is directx12 testable for windows 10 users? I guess getting supportive GPU drivers to do that would be a problem.

Well hopefully vulkan will rule the world.

Although with the free upgrade thing to windows 10 should be less of an issue. Still would be healthier for the industry if vulkan takes off.

If Windows 8.1 has support for it and a downloadable installer, I'll be seeing if that can be 'fixed' in Windows 7.

Heyyo,

I hate how Microsoft requires windows 10 for dx12.

Why is it even an issue? They're giving Windows 10 for free as long as you claim your product key. :P

Is directx12 testable for windows 10 users? I guess getting supportive GPU drivers to do that would be a problem.

Yes it is. Single-GPU only. No SLI...

NVIDIA Drivers v349.90 are DirectX 12 featured drivers and work great on this Overhead test... just... not on any other games lol. They just crash trying to access 12GB that DxDiag thinks I have...
http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/334737-nvidia-34990-directx-12-wddm-20-windows-10-only-drivers/

http://www.3dmark.com/aot/11523
DX12 draw calls per second 7 729 905
DX12 draw calls per frame 270 336

and my DX11 run with SLI on...

http://www.3dmark.com/aot/11511
DX11 Multi-threaded draw calls per second 2 554 965
DX11 Single-threaded draw calls per second 1 571 475
DX11 Multi-threaded draw calls per frame 89 088
DX11 Single-threaded draw calls per frame 49 152

Here's a link to see both side-by-side on the 3DMark website.
http://www.3dmark.com/compare/aot/11523/aot/11511

Now, I'm pretty sure on Dx12 test only one GPU was working which is a bit of a let down since they were advertising you could pretty much pair any GPUs together even from cross-brands... but maybe it was my MSI afterburner was broken due to the broken VRAM detection in the drivers... DxDiag still thinks I have 12GB of VRAM... yet MSI Afterburner was reporting 419GB of VRAM hahahaha... BRO! DO YOU EVEN VRAM!? TITAN X GOT NOTHING ON MY GTX 680 419GB!!! :P

I have a screenie at home. I'll be sure to upload it to see how my MSI Afterburner screwed up and honestly thought I had 419GB lol.
