I have one mid 2010, with core 2 Due 2.4ghz. I only upgraded the SDD about 2 years ago, and if you use for basic stuff, like word, excel, browse the web, and such. I would say go for it, it's nice to have things loading fast. But it's up to you if is worth it or not. In my opinion it is.

What are the current specs?

I have a dual core 2.2 ghz cpu and 2gb of ram I am thinking of getting a 500gb ssd and 8gb of ram. I dont know if i should upgrade or get a new windows laptop. 

I will mostly be programming on it and maybe a little content creation.
