Need help Over clocking HD AMD Radeon 6670

Go to solution Solved by deardevildude,

Have you tried using MSI AfterBurner Here: https://gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner

On that page click the 'Download Afterburner' button and there run the setup as normal

Hey guys i am looking for some help in over clocking my GPU, i am not exactly an expert at Over clocking,

So far i have been using AMD overdrive to OC my GPU then running Unigine Heaven on ultra settings full screen 1920x1080, as you can imagine my FPS is very low and also my score for obvious reasons, anyway here is a screenshot of last benchmark i did.

And also my current OC setting in overdrive Have not currently tested on games only Unigine heaven

So my question is what else should i be doing to improve performance, also my card never went over 65c Temp whilst running this benchmark, i have stock cooling, one fan which came with the case, it is rather pitiful but better than nothing, and obviously the stock GPU fan.

Here are my current specs:

CPU:AMD FX-4100 Quad core 4.2GHz (OC from 4.0 ghz)

GPU:AMD Radeon HD 6670

Motherboard: MSI MS-7641

RAM: 8gb

Case: Galaxy 3 Mid Tower Black

Power supply: i am not sure what the make or wattage is (Pre built buy, bad decision when younger)

I am thinking of upgrading soon anyway and building myself so anything you can think of that would improve my

performance is also welcomed.

Also how dangerous is it that i am over clocking with no knowledge of my power supply?

Just need some guidance

Thanks to those who respond  :D

The hd 6670 isnt a great oc'er as it is just able to be fed by the pcie lane's power. I didn't get more than 75mhz and also, its not a very significant on such low end gpu.

My Rig: AMD Ryzen 5800x3D | Scythe Fuma 2 | RX6600XT Red Devil | B550M Steel Legend | Fury Renegade 32GB 3600MTs | 980 Pro Gen4 - RAID0 - Kingston A400 480GB x2 RAID1 - Seagate Barracuda 1TB x2 | Fractal Design Integra M 650W | InWin 103 | Mic. - SM57 | Headphones - Sony MDR-1A | Keyboard - Roccat Vulcan 100 AIMO | Mouse - Steelseries Rival 310 | Monitor - Dell S3422DWG

Yes it is not great at all, exactly why i am thinking about upgrading, any ideas of what i could upgrade with my current setup? i am making an assumption i probably have a low end PSU too

Look up what PSU you have, otherwise just get like a corsair cx430. What is your budget? Maybe a 280x would be a good upgrade

i have no way of looking it up, without actually opening up my case which i cannot do at the moment, is my motherboard capable of a high end graphics card? as for power supply if it really is bad then i guess i would have to get a new one too, i want to upgrade to something high end and i just wanted to know is it possible to do that with my current setup. but i have no cash at the moment to upgrade i just want to know my options for the future.

When i get the money for upgrades, i am probably going to make a new thread and ask for suggestions with a budget, my budget is unknown at this precise moment lol

That 280x is tempting though

Your motherboard wont be limiting anything. Your psu will most likely be crap if its prebuilt (mine had a 230w psu, lol)
