Need some help out of my depth

kuddlesworth9419

Ok what I want to do sounds pretty simple. I want to run this .jar program without java installed.

https://github.com/Gliptal/TPW-Settings

The exact .jar file comes with the ARMA 3 TPW mod called TPW Settings.jar

It is simply a GUI settings that I kind of want to use but without java, does anyone know how I can do this.

You can only run .jar files if you have Java installed, or any of its open-source equilivants.

Sorry bud...

Ok what I want to do sounds pretty simple. I want to run this .jar program without java installed.

The utility acts as a graphical version of the package's TPW_MODS.hpp configuration file. Since it is coded in Java the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is required: on most PCs and Laptops it should installed by default, in doubt a check for the latest version can be performed here.

Why do not want to use Java?

Are you serious? You're concerned about safety, and you are ON THE INTERNET???

lol

seriously though, the security holes are fixed in java 8 and everyone is using it without a problem

if you are really concerned about java security you should not even be using a computer...

There seems to be exploits all the time being discovered in Java. Same with Adobe. So I choose not to use them. Is there no way of converting a .jar file to a .exe.

unless the creators offer a exe version, no

and there are security exploits in everything, not just java and adobe. every OS, program, network, whatever, has security exploits

but you know what? it doesnt matter becasue unless theres a reason for a hacker to attack you, those exploits remain unknown.

the only reason why a hacker would want to attack you is if you are a really important person with a lot of money or something, which I doubt you are because if you were then you wouldn't have shared your personal information on an online forum for everyone to see.

So if you are concerned about security, get off the internet now and change your name and move to another country. Otherwise you can use java and adobe perfectly fine.

Here are some options, no idea if they'll work or not but give it a try

I'm out of ideas, good luck.

You don't know how Java programs work, do you? The Java compiler converts it to a bytecode that's read by the Java Virtual Machine, which translates to machine code when the program is run. To run a Java program, you need a Java runtime. Java is very safe. People find security flaws in nearly everything, that's just a normal part of computing. A hole is found, and then it's patched. I hope your trust in Java is rekindled, it's actually fine.

There is... But it either installs Java or includes all Java binaries in the folder next to it...
