Building a HTPC for movies and stuff

Proffecte

I'm planning on building a small computer to connect to my Samsung 48" TV. I'm tired of connecting my laptop all the time, so why not build a new PC, just for that purpose?

I'm willing to pay up to around 500$, but i would like it as cheap as possible.

Going to use it mainly for watching movies(netflix, popcorn time and also local stored movies), listening to music(spotify), and most likely surfing the web.

I need a small computer case. Like Cooler Master Elite 110 Mini ITX

or even smaller. Perfect would actually be a Intel NUC, but those are too pricy, i think..? Or could the cheapest ones fit to my needs?

The only thing i'm concerned about, is that the picture should run smooth, and there shouldn't be to much noise comming from the pc.

If its just home theatre then you wont need to go make it rain with money. Personally if I were doing this, Id check out PC part picker for build guides or something. Also if its mini ITX and you're budget is 500 then you might have to invest in a more insulated case

Been playing on a laptop for 6 years, I play Dota 2 with 10fps. Some might say this is impossible, I say its just annoying

The link doesn't work tho...

How would this work?

Case: Cooler Master Elite 110 Mini-ITX 50$

Motherboard: ASUS H81I-PLUS, Socket-1150 89$

CPU: Intel Pentium G3240 71$

RAM: HyperX Fury DDR3 1600MHz 4GB 61$

The prices are based on what they sell it for in my country.

Don't know which power supply to choose..

Tbh, save money on the ram, 8gb is more than enough,

Get a case that has sound dampening (or buy and use it)

Look and fanless psu's

I'd get some larger fans(case permitting) that you can run at lower rpm's but keep the airflow up,

So with the cpu side of things, you might not need a GPU depending on the video content you want to use, maybe look at some of AMD's Apu's,

Check out http://www.silentpcreview.com/ these are the guys Linus went to, for testing of his silent rig.

Do you expressly want a windows PC? Do you think something like an Android Box, or something running XBMC/Kodi might do the trick for you, since all you want is the media centre aspect of it? They can also have Netflix, Spotify, etc running...
