Hmmmm. Possibly get back into photography?

So, I was in Yearbook class in HS and I took Crime Scene Photography at University. Taking photos was always my favorite part, so I've been wanting to get a camera for a long time. Problem is, nice camera's are expensive... Well, today my mom showed me her father's cameras and asked about possibly selling them online. I put batteries in this camera and flash, and everything still works. I kinda want to use it to do some "retro" 35mm photography. The problem is, buying 35mm film and getting it processed have both become really expensive with everything being digital these days...... What do you guys think? Would you like to see some vintage style photos? What kind? Tech? Nature? Urban landscapes? Candid life?

I love shooting film (35mm and Medium Format).  If you can afford to shoot film, it can be pretty rewarding.  And if you have clean negatives and a good scanner, the photos can be as clean as digital files.  I wouldn't classify all film photos as "vintage" as that is a style and style is really about composition, and how you develop the film.  I think you should try a roll or two!  Shoot what you would normally shoot.  Maybe by shooting film, you will have a different perspective.

There's nothing like shooting some black and grey photos, and then working in a darkroom to get the photos unveiled in front of your eyes

Yeah, that's the issue... I don't really have the finances for setting up my own dark room, so I would have to pay to get them developed for me. :(

well that's fine, but to actually have a day that you want to process your own pictures, you need to learn how to use a non digital camera, learn how to use film. etc. There is also local darkrooms in many parts of the world, where you pay a price per hour and bring your own solutions. A note is if do ever do film, get the negatives developed, then choose the pictures you want to get developed. It will save you money since you prob don't want pictures thats blurry/out of focus, pictures that are framed wrong etc, but doing so you will need a film magnifier which will prob cost $10 and will last you forever, and know how to read negatives. :)

In my neck of the Woods, to get a roll of color processed is around $3. I only get the negatives developed and don't get any prints done. Black and white I develope myself in my bath room. Most of the gear you can get fairly cheap online. I then use a scanner to get my negatives on my computer. From there, I'm able to edit the photos in Lightroom and print what I want myself.
