BOINC stats spike?

Um I just noticed that on my first day of running BOINC about a week ago (cue music), I hit over 200k PPD for that day. Now in the graph, you see to days where nothing happened and one day where I launched the app for 20 minutes. Anyways, I ran the program all day today, and the performance compared to the first day I ran the processes was over half as bad. Not to mention that the first day I only ran BOINC for 10ish hours and got 210k points... Is my system breaking down? Because I also get an occasional "Computation error" where it usually says "Ready to send report" Is this normal?

It really depends on the project that you are running.  Some projects report credits nearly immediately after you return the results [ like Moo Wrapper ] and others wait until there is validation from another contributor that ran the same task that you ran [ like SETI@home and Climate Prediction ].

Without knowing which project you were running on BOINC, it would be difficult to say if this is normal or not.

There's also eventual difference in credits. For example, GPU Grid released a batch of very long units that needed to be returned with urgency. As a result, they added in a 400k points bonus + the usual credit the unit would grant, for anyone that completed it. Different apps also tend to hand out different credit values, so you might have gotten lucky / unlucky.

Last, there could also be a random thing in the background, hogging CPU resources. For example, the anti-virus does some random scans from time to time. Windows (and a bunch of other programs) might have decided it's time to update. A disk de-frag might have happened during that time.
