Just a couple question I have regarding Nvidia SHIELD tablet

Rayth

I'm thinking of getting the 32gb one but there is something I want to know and I'd appreciate it if people can help.

1. Can it still run without having any SIM card (I want the 32gb one because it comes with the free cover and controller)?

2. If it can't run without SIM, can I use any SIM card? My service provider is Simple Mobile and I'm in US.

3. Does the tablet come with a screen protector or do I have to get one separately?

4. Can I use the tablet as a secondary monitor for my desktop? If so, is/are there any software(s) which I will need? I want it purely as a secondary monitor when I'm at my computer so I want the audio from the videos I play from there to be played through the headset I have plugged into my desktop etc. I'm sure you know what I mean.

5. I can use my monitor as some sort of a TV and watch videos from my bed but I don't have a wireless keyboard and mouse. Can I use the tablet to control my desktop from across the room?

6. For the streaming to the shield, is it only games? Or can I stream anything whenever I want? I want to play some emulated games so I'm not sure if it'll work unlike Steam games etc.

7. For the controller, can it be used as a normal controller for my desktop? Let's assume for this question that I only have the controller and not the tablet.

8. A little different from #5, is it possible to use the tablet as a graphics tablet (Wacom etc.)? E.g. drawing straight into Photoshop etc.

I might have more questions but for now, these are the only ones I have. I'd appreciate it if people can give me some of the answers :) Thanks

You can use it without a SIM card and you have to get a screen protector separately. I believe you can use the controller on your desktop.

I own a Shield Tablet 32GB,

Regarding the screen protector, are there any ones you would recommend? I can't find one from Nvidia so I don't really know which one to get.

Thanks :)

YES

2. If it can't run without SIM, can I use any SIM card? My service provider is Simple Mobile and I'm in US.

I believe it works with most sims

3. Does the tablet come with a screen protector or do I have to get one separately?

Doesnt come with one, if you need one, get a good one - you might not need it, its pretty strong glass

4. Can I use the tablet as a secondary monitor for my desktop? If so, is/are there any software(s) which I will need? Not Easily... maybe through something like team-viewer or similar

5. I can use my monitor as some sort of a TV and watch videos from my bed but I don't have a wireless keyboard and mouse. Can I use the tablet to control my desktop from across the room?

Same as above, you can also watch youtube, netflix etc and locally stored videos too

6. For the streaming to the shield, is it only games? Or can I stream anything whenever I want? I want to play some emulated games so I'm not sure if it'll work unlike Steam games etc.

Just games - if you want to play emulated games, you can run the emulator ON your shield and store roms on the micro sd card

7. For the controller, can it be used as a normal controller for my desktop? Let's assume for this question that I only have the controller and not the tablet.

YES you can use it for windows and other android devices too

Not as far as i know

There aren't many made for the Shield Tablet and I don't personally recommend any.
