Review of the Canon 600D/ T3i

TehMiik

My review of the Canon 600D or T3i

So, I have been making random videos on YouTube on and off for about 8 years now and I have basically used my phone to record videos on for about 3 years of that. 720p and 1080p 30fps. Before that I was using dreadful video cameras that I got from Argos for about £50 and they were dreadful. 480p 24fps was the best quality they could manage. So I was used to recording on fairly shoddy hardware before my phones. They weren't bad, I started with the iPhone 4 and then went on to the Nexus 4 which is what I use now for Vlogs, setup videos and stuff like that. For my main videos I use my Canon 600D, that's what we call it here in the UK.

I had around £250 at christmas time and wanted to by a new camera for fun photos but impressive video and I settled for the Canon option as I was used to them from school. The one thing I wanted to do was create my Vlog/rant videos and the 600D with it's flip out screen was perfect for this. Of course, most camcorders have had this option for years but I wanted an amazing picture with good bokeh. That's another thing, I had seen loads of videos with a really shadow depth of field to give a more pro look and wanted to do that myself. Looking back, I am glad I went with a DSLR as I really wanted a nice pro look to the video with a nice blurry background and a crispy foreground.

So I got the camera and started messing about with the settings and taking some photos. The picture quality is amazing and 18 megapixels is a lot of pixels for one image! Then I wanted to try out the video because from what I had seen it produced amazing quality video. So I only really had the 18-55mm kit lens and I still use that now. It's really good because I can get a nice wide shot and don't have to stand a mile away to get in shot. Also, at this distance I can check the flip out screen for focus so I'm not blurry with a crispy background for the entire video xD

I've been using it since Christmas of 2014 and I have to say that it's amazing. I have produced loads of video on it and I also use the camera for B-Roll where I can get nice focus transition shots. I use it for photos too but not quite as much. It does produce a really nice quality feel to every image and lets you, like almost every DSLR, change every setting so the image you take is your image and not a hugely processed one. Only thing I'm not a great fan of is that there's no headphone out port for monitoring audio :(

I clicked this post because i read it as "Corsair 600D". I feel like an utter dildo now.

Regardless, thanks for the review mate.

250 Pounds is a fair price for such a camera, I can't seem to find it anywhere for such a price here in the Netherlands.

You should have gotten the 250D (t2i). Essentially, they are the same ( I have owned at one point both of them ).
