Hey guys I got "Donated" a clients old rear projectionTV through my work that works 99% on its own (No remote).

This is the TV in question. It is a Toshiba Cinema Series (Model No.43AX60A)

I am having an issue using a HDMI to Component converter to be able to use my spare PC with it.
The converter I have is a generic China made one that I got for a bin of spare parts from work.
YPbPr-Component-AV-to-HDMI-Converter_297This is said Converter (Input and output are backwords in this picture compared to the one I have).
I am getting no signal through it when I hook up a DVD player with HDMI using the Converter. When using Just the Component cables I get a picture and it runs great. Is there something I need to be looking out for when setting it up through the converter or is it just not going to work?

Open it up. Does the soldering look like it was done by an ape? If so, there's your problem.

There might not even be anything in side. (A common scam in China)

Are you talking about the converter? If so it was a working peice that we took out of someones house when they made an upgrade a few months ago.

Converters like that usually require power to run. You cant just hook up the signal cables.

Yes, I have had it hooked up to a samsung 32" Smart TV that I have as my main monitor on my main computer.

I think the input and output might be backwards for you in that picture. Not sure if it matters though.

It might be trying to send a 720p signal over component, which works with HDTVs, but definitely not surprising to see not working on that old rear projection tank since it more then likely only accepts 480p.

Pull the HDMI cord from the computer / Smart TV setup. Maybe the current cable isn't making full contact inside the HDMI port?

When I try running my Xbox360 throught the converter I get audio but no video so i think you might be correct.

Try setting your source to 480i. If that works, you can start to work your way up. :)

If the source is encrypted by HDCP and the converter isn't encrypting it illegally it can't work.
