Need a new case

CGurrell

Hey guys,

So I've been in a love-hate relationship with my current (and 1st) case, my Zalman Z11. I love that (after I removed the side 80mm fans) it's really quiet and can house all of the fans I need, but I hate its internal layout and the fact that everything is riveted in place, as well as the fact I can't get a GPU longer than 290mm (e.g. Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 900 series cards). Something else I hate is the sheer size of the thing. I've been going to more and more LAN parties and, without a car, this thing is ridiculously hard to carry around.

So with all that in mind, I'm looking for a case that is ATX form factor, has some sort of carrying handles to help portability, space for a rad at the top (thinking about upgrading my CPU and getting an AIO for OC'ing), internal customisability, a windowed side panel, good cable management options and front panel USB 3.0 ports. All for under £100 (UK). Not a lot to ask for I know...

The only case I can find that has all of this is the Corsair Vengeance C70 but there are some things I just don't like about that particular case, e.g. the ammo box style side panel clips, or the fan mounts in the side panel window. If you guys know of anything else then please let me know.

Thanks and have a great day

Chris

I have the Corsair Vengance C70 (White) and it is amazing. (and all metal)

Here is a link to the three: http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/cases/vengeance-series

-- This will only be good if you like the "military look"

EDIT--

Getting them from Amazon UK/Scan would be a lot cheaper. I got mine for £70

Oh.... I just realized you mentioned the C70

More edit

There are some custom build vlogs for them where they replace the side panel for one without fan holes

All great cases but I'm not seeing any kind of handles for moving them around?

It looks quite nice but yeah the military look isn't my thing. A white case is a cool idea but I'd want to buy a white motherboard and white components to match which is just more £££ :P

Also yeah I'll be looking at multiple retailers (including those above, ebuyer, dabs, OcUK etc) for the best price :)

FT05 looks pretty good but the rotated motherboard is a little weird, same for the RV05 too.

Do either of those have handles? I didn't think they did but maybe I'm missing something

Wow, they look great, only problem is that I'd have to order the windows from the US, then pay extra shipping and possibly even customs fees

Rotated mb works well.

The ft05/rv05 set air cooling records.

I own ft05, love it, really small for atx, and handles.

no handles, but both are smaller cases. easily liftable.

Handle looks great but it's all 120mm inside, and no room for a top mounted rad. Great find though

Handles (well, the lack of them) are a deal breaker for me. My back isn't great, and whilst holding the case by handles is just about ok, holding in awkward positions causes my back to twist and really hurts. Thanks for the help but they just won't work unfortunately.

It looks really nice. Found one issue though. Going rate in the UK is around £150, a little high

Rv05 is cheaper, as it has plastic outside. Ft05 has aluminum.

Ft05 is 200 USD, rv05 around 140 usd

Why not build a smaller PC? All you'd need is a new motherboard to pair with the new case. Then you could go with one of the small ITX cases meant for travel (Lian Li has a very compact one). You'd have to accept using a 120mm AIO for some of those builds though.

yup I avoided mentioning this because you wanted a larger mobo.... but the corsair bumblebee... I love this case ( I know they reallty call it a 380t, but in yellow it's awesome)

If you don't miund the smaller form factor I can't think of a better case to build in for looks.

Yup, same thing here. Great case, love the look and modularity, handles are great, and the mnpctech.com window is the icing on the cake.

EDIT: If you really want handles, this case is the way to go. The CM Storm is another promising option without the military look.

I had thought about a smaller motherboard but I just got this one at Christmas.

I've just had a look at the CM Storm Stryker and Trooper and, although they are probably a LOT bigger than my Z11, I'd love to see how well the handle works and how easy they are to carry. If they were as heavy as the Z11 but easier to carry I'd probably buy one. Thanks for all of the help btw guys, much appreciated.

Also for the record, I love the 380T but getting a new motherboard as well as a new case just adds more cash to the situation

If you decide to go ITX route, you could soften the blow to the wallet by selling your current motherboard.

Or maybe to go for middle ground mATX
