Spend WAY less on the case, drop the DVD drive, get one set of ram for 8GB total, and get a dedicated card. Lemme whip up a build.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

Still would go with Intel.

instead of blind fanboyism, suggest a build.

for this budget, pick up a fx-6300 and a GPU. go with 8 gigs of ram right now, and could get away with cheaper ram because not a APU. that saves you 80, and 50 for the cpu side. with 130, If you go used, can pick up a 7950. you could play any game maxed out 60 fps with that system.

now if you want to go used, Im sure someone here could show you a good gpu. I have loads of homework but can help tommorow!

Give me a second to throw something together for $550, which is what your build comes out to. I can probably fit an i5-4440 and an R9 270 in there.

There, and it's even less than the $556 that your build came out to. If you decide to factor in rebates, it's still less.

PS. your build has some serious problems, most importantly, you can't physically fit all of that memory onto the motherboard. There are other problems with it, but that's the most serious one.

didnt say intel wasnt a good choice.

I said dont say it without saying a build. saying intel with a build is 100% okay. saying going X brand, not so much.

IE, justify whatever you say basically. because AMD cpus while its rare, there are situations its not bad. My brothers 400ish build. it has a fx 6300. why? because mobo+ram+chip is cheaper then just my I5. and it doesnt even bottleneck a hd 7950.

hard to recommend a pentium when some games wont start with 2 cores. so right off the bat its behind by a mile. buy if you can squeeze a I3, by all means go for that.

You made the same mistake I commented on earlier. You SHOULD NOT put a haswell refresh CPU with an 80 series board.

sorry im stressed out right now, so If I come off short I apolgize. Legitmately dont mean it.

(oo look apolgizing on the internet)

saying X brand is better is fanboyism. saying X processor is better is not. I dont mind "go with intel because X" but not just "go with intel" because last time I checked, that can range from the I5 suggested, to a pentium, or the OP might pick up a atom. Because hes learning if hes just looking at jayztwocents video. we where all there. so he legitmently doesnt know. When I bought my first gpu, I just picked the best one in my price point, when I should of went slightly over. I dont want someone to be "go intel"

then he goes and looks at cpus in his range, and picks up a atom, or old pentium. theres many cpus, so I just dont want people to get screwed over by broad statements like that.

Because you could very well build a equally powerful AMD system. anything sub 700$ can go both ways, and that's literally just fact. so anything less then that, suggestions should be specific parts, not just brands. Because you cant just say one is better then the other, because it doesnt work that way. I dont want OP to miss out in a good deal, solely because he sticks to one brand.

hope that clears it up. Blind fanboyism might of been a bit harsh, I apologize @Goussy Im stressed out, and that was a bit harsh. But hope you see what I mean also.(or, even if you dont agree, see where Im atleast coming from)

Switch to an i5-4440 and you're fine as is because the i5-4440 is the original haswell CPU. If not, you need to stick to 90 chipset boards, meaning h97 or z97.

well right now any equivalent of x cpu from intel amd has its worse for example the i3 is better than the 6300 in games because of better single core performance and is better at recording and streaming because of quicksync taking the load off of the cpu

The problem is that right now for gaming purposes, Intel as a brand actually IS better than AMD due to Intel's better architecture and therefore better IPC. Every single Intel CPU has significantly better single-threaded performance than any AMD CPU, and many games require good single-threaded performance.

yeah, Its just 10PM and I havent even finished all my homework. I needed a quick break, and I love budget builds. then boom pet peeve:P

OP, If you can, Id go used. for 500$ used you can build a machine that will hit 1080P60Fps in nearly any game. That I know. I know a lot of people like buying new, but for the most part cpus+ram+mobo+gpu, you can get away just fine buying used
