My prepaid LTE speed is faster than most net providers

I just wanted to run a speedtest on my phone.

I use SImple Mobile, it's a prepaid phone service that for 40$/month gives you unlimited calling/texting/data. No plan, I just have a credit card linked to it so it renews every month, but if I wanted to I could pay cash and it would be like what the movies call "burner phones".

I use a Galexy S3 LTE (Tmobile originally) + Cyanogenmod -- but simple mobile works on any phone that is 1) unlocked 2) tmobile (they made a deal so they accept their sim cards)

Yes I can tether the connection to any device, setup a mobile hotspot, do whatever I like.

Just wanted to share :)

P.S screw all the "big" telecom cooperation (AT&T, tmobile, sprint, verizon, etc). One line with them is like minimum 90$/month + 2 year contract for crap service. I just have to buy a 10$ sim card once and pay whenever I want.

At the house I am at right now I get 2.5mbps down and .5mbps up. When I tested T-Mobile(also at the same house) I got 25+mbps down and 6+mbps up(the reason why I put a + is because I tested this speed with a Windows Phone, and it usually reads lower than what it actually is). Its just sad, I'm not sure why ISP's have to be piles of shit.

That's a decent service, still the cellphone milking cow is there with alot of money each month.

Okay I've got "slow" internet but for 10EU month I can't complain.

It's not wifi it's my LTE, and at home I have 60mbit down 30mbit up.

I've just seen people posting on forums that at home they have like 2mbit down and pay ~50$

As for AT&t: You have caps, 3x the price, contracts, and more crap ^_^

Do you really need 30mbit for mobile apps haha

Dude, there's either something wrong with your line, or you're too far away from the Remote Node.

If the former, then you need to call Bell ASAP and get them to send a tech out.

If the latter, then you're wasting your money. You may as well drop down to a lower line speed, or switch to a TPIA like TekSavvy and get unlimited Data and a slower speed tier.

If i was promised x speed and was given a tiny fraction of it, i'd do everything i can; ranging from calling to filling formal complaints.

the sad thing is with telecom companies is that they always have the ability to blame it on 1) your router 2) you got viruses 3) your computer is slow 4) you have notepad installed

they'll come, change your modem, and claim everything is fixed.

I have 100mbit/s at home (they have a data limit but it is not enforced, i usually use 500GB a month when they say the limit is 300, im never throttled, never got a letter, nothing.) and I have around 30mbit/s on my phone (usually) (3GB limit on the phone though:/ but ive learned to not use much data on my phone so im fine with it.

Cox at home and AT&T on ma phone.

seems like 100mbit is getting pretty popular.

It seems that way, and the price is most certainly coming down.

Believe it or not my internet bill hasn't changed since I had 5mbps service all the way up to my current 100mbps service.

that is crazy! Im hoping we all get gigabit soon. Word is my ISP (Cox) is aiming for a full gigabit network by 2017.

But I find 100 mbit to be plenty, a lot of the time I notice that servers I download from wont utilize my full internet speed. Steam and Orgin does as well as Apple and other big ones like them, but for the most part 100mbit seems to be a good sweet spot for me.

I agree. I will take a 1gbps connection if they dont charge me more, but right now I am pretty happy with my service. I dont think I would pay more for gbit service.

100mbps seems like a nice happy place for the time being.
