tv vs screen

Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

Which would be better in gaming on a gtx 980 4way sli using win7 a 27 inch 1080p 60hz samsung screen using hdmi or a big screen tv bigger than 32 inch with 1080p using hdmi?

For gaming it's always better to use a dedicated monitor rather then a TV. TVs have much higher response times and input lag/latency.

That is all on your preference for screen size. That being said if you're going to be putting it on a desk and sitting close up then go with the monitor.

4 way 980s? you should be using 1440p or even 4k monitors, up to 144hz too, forget 60hz

32" 1080p is horrible, max for 1080p is 24" in my opinon

Agree with this.

4 980's to just run a 1080p monitor is massive overkill. You should be looking to running a decent 4k monitor with all that grunt.

If you can afford 4 980s, how about get both. Put the tv above the monitor on the wall, and connect both.

If you have the cash pick up a Panasonic AX800 4k TV. (If you can afford 4 980's you can afford this TV) Can be had currently for $1,999 for 58" model or $2,400 for 65"

Has a respectable 37ms lag time, which is adequate if you don't game professionally. (based off hdtvtest.co.uk review linked above)

It has a display port input that supports 60Hz 4k and 3840×2160 resolution at 4:4:4 10 bit color depth

Don't be the guy who spends $5k on a rig only to hook it up to a cheap ass monitor. Such a waste of money and resources.

its not about what i can afford yup i can afford 4way sli gtx 980, its about whats available out there here we only have 1080p 60hz 5ms monitors with a max of 27 inch and for tv we have 1080p tv from 32 to 55 inch and only hdmi cables can be found other than that are considered rare and hard to find with an expensive price tag a 4k tv can only be found in one shop and they get only 2 parts a month with each of them costing over 40000$ so thats why im asking which would be better in gaming on 1080p a tv or screen?

A pure monitor would be better since it has less processing done to the image etc.

However, as others have said. Check the market if it's possible to get a 4k monitor. Or maybe something like the ROG Swift.

Like I said above (providing actually relevant info rather then whining about 4-way SLI), it's always better to use a dedicated monitor for gaming. Lower response times and less input lag.

Tv's suck connected to pc's for gaming..  Hdmi is limited..

You want to use monitors for computing and gaming and use the display port..

I would look at the LG34um95 a couple of LG 27" models to go with it and have them imported in, think it would save you money from buying from your local retailers from the way it sounds..

what do you mean? only companies are allowed?

just go to amazon US, buy a monitor and they will ship it to you, you will pay shipping and tax costs most probably, not sure why that wouldnt be possible

You're better off with a monitor, but seriously, do look into other options.

If you only want 1 1080p monitor, just get 1 GPU.

You could however get 3 1080p monitors for 5760x1080p gaming, which some people love. Have you looked to see if you can import a monitor/TV from Europe? I appreciate though that commerce may have slowed down over the past few years in Egypt, but surely in Cairo there are the high-end shopping centres all supercities have?

EDIT: just read your previous post, disregard stuff about importing.

what if you know someone in another country purchasing for you, then shipping it to you as person to person delivery? Is that a possible option?

really? I dont see that law anywhere, and I have look around for it

this seems to say its ok? - it seems more complicated, but still possible to do

If you really cant, then maybe look to getting 3x 1080p monitors for surround gaming :), there is NO point having 4x 980s for a single 1080p monitor, its a waste of 3 x 980s they will just do nothing

well since 2011 it has been very hard to import things on your own its either you travel and get it by yourself or pay a considerably huge amount of money to get a company to import it for you, but anyways since i have the answer i will get a 1080p monitor then maybe in the summer i could come to the US and get a 4K monitor :D :D
