Looking to a monitor for my bro

Go to solution Solved by pomaranc,

I forgot to mention he also plans to go on a SLI in the future so much why I hesitate between this two resolutions.

He plays most various games MMOs, RPGs, Action, FPS, etc.. so no base on one type really various.

The money isn't a problem the investment much matter.

Well with that rig 1440p is a must, if you have money for 144Hz 1440p go for it!

Hi guys & of course girls :),

I'm looking to a monitor for my bro, I build his PC so here is the much important specs you need to:

- Intel CPU i7 4790k

- NVIDIA GPU GTX 970 4GB

It's for a pure gaming usage.

I'm sure to need a time response between 1-2ms, a prefer 120-144Hz refresh frequency, TN Panel and GSYNC but I hesitate between a 1080p or a 1440p resolution so a 24" or 27" inch.

I found two potentials convenient monitors:

- The ASUS SWIFT PG278Q

- The benQ XL2420G

I really can have a great rebate of my supplier in one both of them but I'm really asking myself if it would not be more convenient to wait the new series who come surely in next months cause I want to do an investment for at least 3 years.

So waiting your suggestions ;)

The BenQ.

A 970 won't give you the framerate at 1440p to make 144Hz worth it.

Of course unless all he plays is CSGO.

1440p 60Hz might be better opinion than 1080p 144Hz unles you really need that refresh rate, I think that right now 1080p monitors are only worth it if you have really low budget, and he can play CSGO at 144FPS but in new AAA games where he doesn't need that refresh rate that much he can play at 60FPS with better resolution or lower the settings a bit.
