Samsung 840 EVO low write speeds

Hey guys,

i believe my 250 GB Samsung 840 EVO is having problems. Since the end of january i get extremly low seq. and random write speeds on my SSD.

I don't really know what I did, maybe it was the performance restoration tool Samsung released some time ago?

I attached 2 pictures to show you my results.

Do you have any idea what is causing this problem?

Was there not a firmware deal that took care of issues with these drives?  I am not sure if it dealt with write speeds though.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

Yes there was, but I believe it only affected read speeds.

Ok I fixed it myself.

For anyone having the same problem.

Go to your SATA Controller under device manager and deactivate the Intel drivers.

Use the standard ones provided by Mircosoft.

Then under "OS Optimization" in the Samsung Magician programm activate "Write Cache Buffer" if not already activated.

Now it should be back to normal.

Hi,

I have a 250Gb Samsung EVO drive and I've heard about the firmware issues for a while now, but the problem is there doesn't seem to be any fix for people like me who have a dual boot installation. That said, I'm getting very different results when I run the benchmarks on Windows and on Linux.

Do you think that it's a driver issue for Windows, because I still don't understand why I have better results in Linux.

Thanks
