Welcome to my project named Elegance.

This is a personal project which will be used as a light gaming/HTPC in the living room. With this PC I plan on introducing some games to my wife, and hope to spark up an interest in co-op gaming. There is a strong focus on design with this project as there is not alot of space to work with. I plan on focusing on extremely clean cables, a sleek industrial interior and improving the ventilation to the Graphics card. This project is named Elegance as I want this project to have a sleek look inside which matches the brushed look on the outside. There will be super clean cabling, and will also be a better performer than stock ;)

This project will consist of the following hardware:
CPU: Intel Pentium 20th Anniversary Edition G3258
CPU cooler: Cryorig C7
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87N-Wifi
GPU: EVGA GTX750Ti 2GB ITX
PSU: SilverStone SX600-G
SSD: OCZ ARC100 240GB
RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB 1866mhz
Chassis: Raijintek Metis Silver - Windowed

The mods that will happen:
This project will have my custom signature inside paneling with a brushed finish. These panels will cover and streamline the inside of the chassis, and various components.
I will reverse the reverse layout, so that the chassis' motherboard orientation will be as a standard chassis. This is for 2 reasons: 1. No one has done it before and 2. To improve and supply airflow to the graphics card.
Create an IO shield and Wifi card panel on the motherboard
Maybe install watercooling loop.

Final words..
So with this all said and done, let's get on with the project shall we?

Kind regards,
Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen

Update 1

Chassis photoshoot and inverting the inverted orientation.

Upon closer inspection of this lovely chassis, I noticed this chassis has a very simplified construction, which is using only screws. I also noticed that the chassis sides can be mirrored in a way that I can reverse the motherboard orientation with almost no modding! So I went ahead and reversed it ;)

Let's start with the chassis photoshoot, and some playing around:

DSC08833_zpswewtclu5.jpg

DSC08834_zpsq15qnrir.jpg

After flipping the motherboard like this, I noticed that I just needed to drill and tap 2 M4 screw holes. So I went ahead with this mod:

DSC08838_zpsp0mfzjzm.jpg

DSC08842_zpswyqymyso.jpg

DSC08843_zps0zvgyjoy.jpg

DSC08844_zpsjvnrecfn.jpg

This is an awesome and easy mod that almost anyone can do. This is also a great way to fix the thermals of any GPU which is used as it will be able to draw in fresh air from under the chassis, where the HDD/SSD holes are. If you want maximum airflow, you can always pull out your trusty Dremel and get to cutting. Just think about a dust filter and you will be fine :) Remember that this chassis is aluminium, and SilverStone's magnetic dust filters will not work..

I really hope you have enjoyed this mod, and might want to try the same thing yourself :)

Kind regards,
Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen

I can't wait to see how you work in this case, especially sleeved cables inside this tint thing?

Thanks guys! :) Custom length cables should do the trick :)

Damn, more builds then eh? Time to sub so I don't miss anything.

Also, why the heck didn't Raijintek just have the mobo orientation that way round in the first place? it makes a lot more sense and probably looks better as well.

Because Raijintek probably expects you to mount all the drives you can fit on the bottom and also it allows you to clench all the cables on the bottom , but this engineering doesnt apply to @MetallicAcid

I wanted to buy this case so much , and still do , if this build impresses me , you can officialy state to Raijintek that you sold a case with your amazing work !

Yeah man. I have next to no down time when it comes to building and modding :)

The orientation is nice when stock, and does allow for the HDD/SSDs to be installed. I would like to see just 2 more screw holes so that whoever buys this chassis can do what I did without modification. This would make the chassis modular and customisable. The panels can already be swapped and set in any orientation too :)

Could you have used the 500 watt sfx-l power supply in that case? It would be much quieter than the 600g.

Nice to have you back spwath! :)

Love sff builds, subbed!

Thanks mate!

I could have used the lower end model. I was planning on an SLI SFF build which the 600w was perfect for, but that got put on permanent hold :( So I used here instead :)

If it is too noisy, I will swap it for the 500w SX500-LG by SilverStone, with the 120mm fan :)

Just actually read the op.

How would you water cool?

It was hard enough water cooling my ft05, that's small, but still atx.

I can't imagine doing it any smaller, I had to make allot of compromised all ready (rad touches both sides of case, rad not screwed in (holes don't line up/screw's are too short) hard drive is connected by a 1 inch Velcro square, red/pump are held in place by front io cables)

Looking forward to what ever happens, this is an interesting case, never seen it used.

Awesome :)

I thought you were starting an S-Frame project though right?

he needs a sponsor for it, has yet to found one

Anyways @MetallicAcid, you have a good thing with small cases, you make the most of it :D {defineatly not a porn refrence)

If you have desire and a creative mind you'd be surprised at what you can do such at my watercooled shuttle and my NCASE will have dual 240mm rads. Making mm adjustments here and there can let you do a lot of things.

@MetallicAcid this is awesome! I know from the specs that this is a project you're going to have a lot of fun with.

Firstly I just want to say thank you for an already awesome response to this mini project!!

Awesome :)

Just rounding up any sponsors willing to invest. Harder than it may seem due to the sheer cost of this project..

I don't know what is going on here, but I like it.

Thanks mate!

I have considered 2x 120 radiators. One on the back, and one on the floor. This concept would only work of course if I swap the orientation back to stock, then move the PSU up beside the GPU.

I am not convinced that the watercooling is needed though as the GPU already has it's own air supply drawing air from the HDD/SSD holes in the bottom.

Stop with all the cool projects already! :)

You really want me to stop?? :(

Correct! I like the smaller projects as well as I can focus more on the smaller details, and really think creative about how to fix various problems.

What makes this project most appealing is its lower end hardware. You don't need top end gear all the time, you can mod anything to make it your own and hopefully this thread only encourages others to have a go!
